This 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is a pre-production car that is not supposed to exist. A year early for the revolutionary 32-valve 4.6-liter V8, his is believed to be a 1 of 1 test bed for Ford. Saved from the crusher and instead given even more experimental components, his prototype Mustang's story is worth its value price alone. The story goes that car #3629 of the 4,005 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobras was plucked off the assembly line and chosen for a very special assignment. It was the first Mustang Cobra to receive the 4.6-liter DOHC V8. This motor wouldn't be available to Mustang fans until the following year, nd this was the car used as both a test bed and a show car for the now-famous powerplant (after all, ord needed some advance time to get the enthusiasts ready for the motor that was going to replace the iconic 5.0.) When the spotlight goes away, e all know that prototypes usually meet a grim fate. The word is that this was scheduled to be crushed, ut saved by at the last minute in one of those Motown backdoor deals that let a few concepts slip away (part of this legend includes that the deal was put together by a Roush engineer, nd he possibly even made the car, ngine, nd other components as separate deals!) We do know that the coupe made its way to Colorado where John Ames raced it in SCCA events. But more than just a cool club racer, t also became a test bed for Zexel Torsen that included developing the T-2R race differential. So this car was actually a poster child for the 4.6 DOHC and the new racing rear end!For a car that's not supposed to exist, he Crystal White paint looks pretty darn good. That means even during its time on the track, his coupe was in the hands of professionals. Of course it also doesn't hurt that it was treated to the new Cobra-correct Ford NOS headlights to make sure that this car is truly putting its best face forward.Inside the saddle leather interior looks nicer than most other 1995 Mustangs. This prototype is a genuine Cobra, o you get all the right details like the correct air bag cover and white-faced gauges. It also comes with plenty of comfortable features such as power windows, ower locks, ruise control, ower seats, ual airbags, M/FM/cassette stereo, nd even ice-cold air conditioning.Under the hood is the 4.6-liter V8 that was a worthy successor to the 5.0. It is believed to be the same engine that was installed when Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) plucked this car off the assembly line in the spring of '95. One of this car's previous six owners did polish some of the components, o it helps draw in the crowds before you wow them with your unique story. But this very special Cobra is not just good to show off; it's ready to race, oo. Fortified with Eibach lowering springs, okico D-spec struts, ord Performance 1-1/2" front sway bar with dual clamp locks, nd rear sway bar with triangulated Panhard bar bracing, his is a coupe that knows how to stay flat in the corners. Plus, ontrol is well in hand thanks to the four-wheel disc brakes and the BF Goodrich g-Force tires on the correct Cobra R wheels. The T-45 five-speed manual was rebuilt by the current owner, nd it still has the outstanding Torsen T-2R Traction Differential that this car helped develop into a must-have for performance Mustangs. Best of all, he moment you fire this one up, eople hear the roar of the dual H-pipe exhaust. With no catalytic converter in the way, hey will all know you have something special. The prototype comes with restoration photos, itle documentation, nd info on plenty of articles written about this 1 of 1. There's a lot more info and components to mention, o call us for all the details. It's an interesting story for a very affordable price, nd there's a race-ready incredible Mustang thrown in the deal, oo! Call now!
