I hate to lose my baby, but we really don't have room to store my Bronco anymore and we move so often it just doesn't make sense to hold on to it. Here is the deal: bought it a few years ago and started to deluxe it out by installing a K&N Cold Air Intake and some sweet polished stainless steel Gibson headers. When I put the headers in, I had a shop install a high performance Flowmaster muffler and fabricate some dual exhaust. That really increased the horsepower and it sounds bad ass. I had to rewire the starter relay which lead to a new battery, starter and alternator because the cables were bad and I just wanted to have it all new so I didn't have to worry about it. No shorts and all the wiring is solid.
I didn't do much else to it besides random stuff like changing out headlight bulbs, fuses, etc. Then I noticed a leak around the oil pan and some coolant leaking from behind the motor mount -- thought that was from a freeze plug. Ended up pulling the engine because I had access to a shop, tools, lift, etc.
Replaced the oil pan, oil pan gasket, head gasket, head bolts, valve cover gaskets, header gaskets, intake gaskets, spark plugs & wires, distributor cap & rotor -- cleaned, de-greased, polished and painted entire engine. Replaced with fresh fluids and thoroughly flushed radiator. I pretty much rebuilt the entire engine and went over every single component.
The body doesn't have hardly any rust. There is only 1 place where it is an issue and that is under the top of the windshield trim. When I replaced the windshield, I noticed it was rusted in an area which was causing a few trickles of water into the interior. I have some 100 mph tape across the top and I don't really mind it and it doesn't leak, but the new owner might want to take care of it. The interior is really nice, the stereo is decent, it has an AUX outlet so you can play an iPod. I've had the top off many times -- it really isn't that much of a hassle, but it's surprisingly heavy and I wait until the summer when I know it's not going to rain for a while. The 4WD works perfectly (manual locking hubs - work perfectly) and it is the best stock off-road vehicle I ever drove (close up there with CJ7). The tires are Falkens and have plenty of tread left.
What else? I only use synthetic oil and top of the line fluids & parts. This thing is super clean now that the engine was just rebuilt. Incidentally, the leak wasn't from a freeze plug it was from a head bolt, so that was the reason why I replaced all those gaskets. They were all Fel Pro by the way, and I have most receipts.
