Description

Here's my 2005 Ranger.
I've driven it 6000 miles in a year and a half. The previous owner bought it after some water damage had occurred in 2012 and had to replace the transmission (I have his receipt for the part which he bought in March, 2013). Since then, I've used it as a utility vehicle and spare driver, and to tow another car on a dolly (see my pics). It's fun to drive, starts, runs and tows fine. The truck's title is clear, it is not branded because of the water damage, but the damage did happen in 2012.
Here's the issue: It seems like the water damage from 2012 has affected something in the wiring harness, because several things have stopped working over the last year or so. My mechanic suggested that I needed to replace the Chassis Control Module (interior fuse panel with programmable settings). I searched and found the part, put it in and had my Ford dealer program it. The Chassis Control Module is working right, it's calling for the right electrical responses, but several things are not working properly on the truck: Power door locks, intermittent wipers (high and low speeds work, but not the intermittent), dome light, Heater fan (only blows on low speed, won't adjust to any other speed). Most importantly, the brake lights and turn signals have stopped working right. Center brake light works but not the left and right lights; Left front turn signal works, but the other three lights do not work.
My suspicion - and both my mechanic and the Ford dealership's technician agree - is that there's a faulty ground or a damaged spot somewhere in the wiring harness. If you have the interest and the patience to find that one spot, all the problems will most likely be solved. So if you are the person with the interest and the patience to trace the wiring on this truck, you can get yourself a nice little utility vehicle at a very good price. If you are not that person, please don't get involved with this truck because all sales are final and I wouldn't want you to be stuck.
According to Kelley Blue Books, in my zip code a retail price for this truck in good condition would be $7369. KBB's Private Party price would be $5514. Add to that the bedliner and tool box.... My auction starts at $2000 and has no reserve!
