We are the second owners of this vehicle and it has been babied all its life. This Excursion has been a Texas vehicle its whole life and it has never towed anything more than a 16' utility trailer and a car trailer a handful of times. In fact. when I first bought it I had to double check to make sure that someone didn't paint over the receiver hitch since the paint had never been scraped off. Before I bought it. I had my diesel mechanic run a service history on it and it came back with a replaced turbo at 80k miles and a replaced AC controller. I asked him why it probably had a new turbo on it and he looked the truck over and said because it probably has been driven around town by a soccer mom and rarely ever stretched the vanes on the turbo causing it to periodically stick. Since you came to this page. you. like me. have probably been looking for a quality used Diesel Excursion for some time. A friend of mine's dad owns a car lot and he told me they just got one in on trade and I ran down there and bought it the same day. Since I've owned it I have done numerous upgrades to it. It has been a fabulous vehicle for us. We have kids at college on separate coasts and we have used it to bring our son home from Washington State University towing his car back and have visited our daughter in Florida numerous times. We have traveled with 6 people and all our gear. 14-15 hrs at a time comfortably. I'm 6'2" and can get in this car and drive 17 hours to my daughter's college comfortably with no problem. And with a 44 gallon tank you can cruise the highways without having to stop frequently. In fact. I drove from Dallas to St. Louis (600 miles) making one stop and still had a quarter tank left when I got there. I also used it to pick up a classic Camaro in Washington making it to the Seattle area and back to Dallas in a little over 5 days. On the way back. I stuck the cruise control on 85 and humped it through the hills of Colorado. Utah and Wyoming towing a car trailer and old Camaro without ever a hiccup. Some of the things I've done to it:Sinister EGR Delete with remote filter. coolant flush. new Ford OEM oil coolerBlue spring upgrade for added fuel pressureEdge monitor to monitor pretty much everything and an SCT Tuner running a canned 75 hp tow tuneBilstein shocksNew moog greasable ball jointsStop Tech slotted and cryogenically treated rotors with Hawk LTS pads on all four corners (also inspected the front bearings and repacked at the time)New FICM from FICM repair with the Atlas 40 mild tuneNew rear gas shocks for the hatch windowRavelco anti theft device - if you don't know what this is. look it up. Also. has an aftermarket alarm with remote battery backup - can't think of the name right now. Brand new Mean Green 300 amp alternatorApprox $5k of Custom Kenwood head unit. 6 JL Audio door speakers and two 10" woofers in the rear hatch doors. Also has built in GPS and bluetooth with remote speaker for hands free calling. Can play DVDs and the video comes through the stereo screen as well as the overhead displayCustom installed rear back up cameraMichelin LTX MSII. I think with about 50% tread left - tires have full warranty from Discount TireJust changed the oil and both fuel filters about 1. 00 miles agoTransmission was flushed and fluid replaced with Shaeffer's All Trans Supreme synthetic oilRear diff serviced about 40 miles ago with Ford Motorcraft syn oil and proper additivesI had to replace the windshield not that long ago so I had a "SuperDuty" windshield installedThere are probably a few other things I'm missing but this covers most of it. I've owned four Superduty's. three of them diesel - an '01 7. 3. an '05 6. 0 that I built into a cool play truck and this '04 6. 0. I know Ford diesels pretty well along with having a close relationship with one of the finest diesel mechanics in the North Texas area. If you think that all 6. 0's are dangerous then you are ignorant on the subject. Feel free to contact my mechanic if you have any questions or concerns about this vehicle. Now the bad - it has one small mark on the passenger side on the paint. It is a small gouge that I show in the pictures. The rest of the body and paint is in great condition. It has a small tear at the stitching in one of the middle row seats. It has a little roughness to the back of the steering wheel wrap. The passenger seat heater element is burned out. The dummy (as some people like to call it) overhead gauge is out. A common problem on these trucks but very fixable. As part of the sale. I will make sure that the seat element gets fixed and the overhead display gets repaired or reimburse the buyer appropriately. Folks. that's it. You might think I'm asking a premium for this truck but do your homework and find what quality used Excursions are going for with a known ownership history. They don't make any more of these beasts and once they do they'll be in the $70k range - hell a new 5. 3 Suburban is going for that much now. A few questions I'll answer in advance:1) Are there head studs installed? No. not needed. I'm running a mild tune and the truck isn't producing enough boost to stretch the head studs. And with the Edge monitor I can quickly tell if there is any problem going on. 2) If it's been such a great truck. why are you selling? We just purchased a farm and am needing another pickup so we can gooseneck haul horse and livestock trailers.
