Description

Up forauction is my 2004 F150 CNG. I've owned this truck for about two years, and in that time I've put about 40k freeway miles on it commuting about100 miles/dayto work. I'm selling it because I bought a CNG Crown Victoria.

The truck was originally owned by a municipality in central California, and it appears to have been fairly well taken care of. In general, I'd say the truck runs very good to excellent. It's not perfect, but as far as running and driving condition...it's far better than most. I'd drive it anywhere that CNG is available without concern right now.

Since owning it, I'vereplaced the following maintenance items: Radiator, upper and lower radiator hoses, heater hoses, thermostat, upper control arms (w/ ball joints), lower ball joints, front end alignment, front and rear brake pads, timing chain tensioners, tensioner arms, timing chain guides, front cover crankshaft seal, water pump, and a complete set of MSD ignition coils.

What maintenance items it will need soon: Tires. I have put about 40k miles on them myself, and they were pretty well worn when I bought the truck. The right front tire has a very slow leak in it currently.

Other issues worth mentioning: 1) There seems to be an intermittent coolant leak from the top, rightrear of the engine. I am nearly certain it is coming from where the intake manifold meets the head, however I can't prove that without removing the intake. Currently it's not leaking on the ground at all, but it has in the past. I put some Bar's Leaks in it,and it seems to have stopped it completely. 2) I did not "turn" the rotors when I did the brakes, so there is a slight shudder when braking. It's more noticeable when light braking from freeway speed, less noticeable at other times. 3) The potentiometer is worn on the radio volume knob making it sometimes difficult to adjust. 4) Front bumper has a dent from me tapping a trailer hitch of a car. 5) There are a couple dentsin the right front fender...Looks like something fell against it...No scratches, just a couple wrinkles. 6)Slight tear in the seam of the seat on the driver side.

The tanks appear to be the original set, are fully-functional and expire December of 2018. To be clear they are a 3600 psi system, and NOT a 3000 psi system. The range will depend on your driving style, but I have pushed this truck in excess of 350 miles on the freeway. Typically though, it's good for about 275-300 miles.

As mentioned in the title, this vehicle is classified as an ultra-low emission vehicle and does qualify for carpool stickers. I did not file for them on this truck (I did on my last one), but it DOES QUALIFY. If I recall, the cost of the stickers is $8.00, and all you have to do is fill out a single form.

Commonly-asked questions: Is this truck a conversion?....NO Can it run on propane?....NO What would it take to convert it back to gasoline?.....A lot of expensive work that wouldn't be worth it when you got done. Whatwould it cost to retank itonce the tanks expire?....About what the truck is worth now, so just keep driving it as long as you can the way it is. In short....unless you're familiar with CNG vehicles and where/how to buy the fuel, this vehicle may not be for you. I'd love to sell it to anyone, and it really is a great vehicle, but these things aren't for everyone.

License is due at the end of the month, so if you're California buyer, I'll pay the license fee. If you're an out-of-state buyer, I won't relicense it. I will smog the vehicle, fill it full of CNG, and have a fresh change of oil in it when you pick it up. Mileage may vary slightly from stated amount as I drive it occasionally.

Truck will be available for pickup in Fresno, CA. I occasionally travel to LA for business, so I may be able to assist in delivery if it works out for me. Payment in full will be required before it leaves my driveway.
