1997 Ford Taurus, one owner, non-smoker, FOR PARTS ONLY. I was driving this vehicle daily until February, 2016. I cannot recommend driving this vehicle due to safety issues, so I will mention shortcomings first:
The parking brake failed while applying, making a crunching sound (perhaps due to rust on the underside driver seat area - I did not examine closely); this is still non-operational, and the reason why I stopped driving immediately; there appears to be severe rust underneath the car, including structural items. Also, car pulls strongly to right-hand at highway speeds, so there may be a brake component failure (service brakes still work at low speed), brake lines were partially repaired - rusty lines. I also had rust hole in LH shock tower welded/repaired. Headlights have moisture and water inside. LH rear power lock does not work - manually only. Trunk only unlocked by power trunk release (key does not unlock trunk). A/C does not work. There is considerable structural rust and body corrosion, especially underside of the vehicle. Paint/clearcoat peeling on trunk lid and body. You can expect rust, dents, and paint issues anywhere on vehicle - look at pictures to get an idea. There is collision damage/dents on the rear LH door and quarter panel (door still works). Driver seat has some stains on backside, nearby left door panel has crayon marks. There may be other unknown issues that could have possibly crept up that I am unaware of, as car has not been driven since February. Once every couple of weeks or so, the engine would stall at idle, but restart and be fine after revving up.
On the bright side, engine, transmission, wheels, power driver seat, and power side mirrors are all operational. Wheels are 15" alloy, not wheel covers, and look good for their age. Interior has many good parts; seats good overall. Original factory floor mats are still there (they were covered up). Front passenger seat is manually operated. Car starts and runs fine, charging system works. Stereo has six factory speakers, including two on the door inside behind the side mirrors - sounds great. Radio works, have not tried cassette player. Power windows work with the driver's controls only. Previous major repairs include rear-end collision damage years ago (bumper, trunk), and transmission repaired at approximately 150K miles (was stuck in 1st gear). Engine oil was changed regularly and kept full.
Overall, there are many good parts in this Taurus. It is a good donor for a Taurus with a better body, but I must emphasize that because of structural weakness and safety issues, I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE driving this vehicle, and it is sold AS IS with no warranty implied. Buyer is to arrange for pickup; towing is recommended. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
