This is a good driver that can easily be brought up to local show level condition.
It has always been on the West coast and was built in the California plant . The vin is 6R07C202544.
Please review my Ebay feedback . My wife and I just sold our cherished 1966 Mustang on Ebay and the buyer is very happy with it . I have been in our local Mustang club for 30 years and know these cars very well.
I am listing this one on behalf of my sister because she is no longer able to drive and she does not have an Ebay account . She has owned the car for 20 years.
It is a factory V8 and originally came with a 2 barrel carburetor . During the engine rebuild it was upgraded with an original Ford 4 barrel intake and original Ford Autolite 4 barrel carburetor and dual exhaust . It is only a 2 owner car and has been garaged when not in use . It has never been stored near the beach so there is no heavy bubbling in the vent window or quarter window frames.
We have thousands of dollars in receipts that document some of the maintenance over the years and those go with the car.
Ask questions before you buy any car . You don't want to buy one that someone claims is in good condition then have to spend thousands of dollars buying a ton of little AND big things for it.
These V8 Mustangs run very well but are not extremely fast by today's standards like some people think they are, and the throttle opening can easily be regulated to slow them down which also makes them a good choice for kids too if you are considering buying yours their first car.
PERFORMANCE
She had not driven it recently so she had me check the tune up to get it ready to sell . I have not driven it very far but it seems to run and drive well . There are no squeaks or rattles . There is no whine or howling from the differential . There is no hesitation when accelerating . The transmission will shift xlnt . There is no play in the steering and it does not drift or wander on the highway . It pulls strong when you floor it . The car does not pull to either side when braking . There is no whine or chatter in the power steering . There is no smoke when first starting it or upon hard acceleration and there is never any lifter noise and never runs hot.
ENGINE
It is completely stock and has less than 5,000 miles on it . It was professionally rebuilt using high quality parts . It was also balanced and blueprinted so it runs as smooth as it did when it was new . The cylinder heads have new valve guides and hardened seats so you can run unleaded gas without any problem . It is also nicely detailed to local show level condition.
TRANSMISSION
The transmission shifted fine when it was cold but shifted a little slower than it should when it got up to normal operating temperature so I am having it fully rebuilt by a high quality builder and am using a Borg Warner master rebuild kit and rebuilt torque converter . Borg Warner is the very best kit for a stock type rebuild and is FAR superior to the budget kits that many "rebuilders" install just to make more profit, especially when they get to charge the customer for another rebuild when it blows up again after around 1 year . Transmissions with the Borg Warner kit have been known to go close to 100,000 miles before needing another rebuild . The plastic bushings in the chrome floor shifter are also usually worn on these cars which makes the shift handle feel sloppy and can cause inaccurate gear engagement . This shifter has new bushings in it.
ENGINE OPERATING TEMPERATURE
These cars only had 2 row radiators from the factory and Ford tested them in the WINTER so they never noticed that they can run a little warmer in blazing hot climates especially if they have air conditioning . Also, after all these years, the radiators can get partially clogged or the water pump impeller can get partially eaten away which further reduces cooling efficiency, therefore it is very important to determine if any car you buy runs hotter than it should, because getting one to cool properly can easily cost $600.00 or more . This car has a new water pump and a 3 row radiator . One easy way to tell if a cars cooling system is good is to simply let it idle for around 10 minutes . If it has air conditioning, turn that on also . If it isn't hurling water out like Old Faithful Geyser by then, it is probably fine . This engine has NEVER run hot.
OPTIONS
The factory options are power steering, automatic transmission, and emergency flasher.
INTERIOR
The interior is original and old looking . There are no big tears in the seats where the foam is coming out but there are a couple small split seams . The headliner has a few small tears . There is a small crack on the padded dash.
ELECTRICAL
The electrical systems on these cars are very simple and any problems are easy to fix, however, everything on this particular car works including all the gauges, headlights, tail lights, brake lights, emergency flasher, interior lights, interior light dimmer and turn signals . Even the the turn signal canceler works and this part is often broken and costs around $200.00 to repair . It has a new battery and a new alternator that puts out over 14 volts with a load on it.
BODY
The body is pretty straight for a car of this age . It had a dent in the right rear quarter that was repaired but it wasn't huge, and if you look on the inside of the quarter panel from inside the trunk, it is difficult to see that it was repaired . Most people wouldn't even notice unless I told them but I just wanted to mention it . There are NO large dents and only one small door ding on the right door . If you look under the car you can see that the rockers and floors are laser straight and there is no heavy undercoating on the floors that could hide any rust . The front windshield has a crack.
RUST
If someone tells you their 50 year old Mustang does not have any rust, they typically have no idea what they are talking about or are blind or never looked, or it has been "repaired" and hidden with bondo, or they are simply lying or they have a miracle car (which is the least likely) . The common places for rust on these cars even in California and Arizona where there is no snow in most places is in the lower front corners of the doors where the outside rusts first, and just in front or behind the rear wheel at the bottom of the panels, and the floor pans . Minor rust from rainwater in any of these areas can be easily and inexpensively fixed . Rust from salted roads can cost a lot to fix . This car has a small spot in the lower front corner of both doors on the outside only that is around 1/4" around . There is also four tiny 1/16" bubbles just behind the right door on the outside only of the quarter panel and a few on the outside only of the left rear quarter panel behind the wheel that encompasses an area around 3" in diameter . That's it, big deal.
I spent only around 10 minutes cleaning up the inside front corner of the doors and re-shooting a little color on them so you can easily see how nice they are in the photos.
FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, AND CARBURETOR
These ALWAYS have some amount of rust in the fuel tank after 40 plus years but usually doesn't cause a leak so unless the filler neck is removed, it is impossible to assess the condition of the tank . Since we don't want someone to have any problems with the tank possibly leaking in the near future, I took a look at it and decided that even though the amount of rust it had was small, I wanted to replace it so it now has a new high quality US made tank . The fuel pump is new and made by Delphi which is an OEM manufacturer and it is the best pump available . It is FAR superior to the junk pump sold by many auto parts stores and uses the large diaphragm just like the original Carter fuel pumps that came on these cars . The carburetor has been rebuilt.
PAINT
It was repainted only once which was done several years ago . There are a few chips and scratches but no lifting or peeling and it still looks decent for a basic entry level driver grade car.
ADDITIONAL PARTS
My friend is a dealer for Scott Drake Products which is one of the biggest aftermarket parts suppliers for vintage Mustangs and they make very high quality parts . Some of them are from the original Ford tooling and many of them are licensed by Ford . I will sell you any parts that Scott Drake makes for 25% under suggested retail . This is FAR less than you can buy them from any vendor or from Ebay and if you plan to do some cosmetic restoration on the car like replacing the interior, this will save you a lot of money.

VEHICLE INSPECTION
I encourage you to see the car in person and drive it so you can be certain that you like it . I also suggest that you bring any Mustang or other automotive expert you have along with you if you don't know much about cars . I also have a floor jack so you can jack it up and crawl underneath if you want . I am available to show it pretty much anytime.
Come out early and bring the kids, bring the dog and the cat . We live in a beautiful area with many small orange groves and there is a forest and hiking trails right at the end of our street . You could also head over to Lake Elsinore afterwards which is only 6 miles away and rent a boat (no special license required) . We are also only 5 miles from a large outdoor dirt track where they often hold events on weekends so you could check that out if you like racing.
