1970 Ford Mustang One of the rarest and most unique 1970 Mustangs ever produced. this is 1 of 2 cars that was specifically ordered for SCCA racing. But Chevrolet’s pull out from racing caused Ford to hesitate on their efforts. and this car. already in production. never went to the team it was ordered for. Instead. it was sold to a San Jose plant employee and never saw SCCA competition. A Deluxe Marti report documents all of the factory equipment. Plus there is a letter from the plant production supervisor who purchased the car. original sales contract. original purchase order. original owners manual and warranty card. even the original California temporary plate. In 2009 Legendary Ford magazine wrote this about the car. “Our featured 1970 Mustang was never meant to fall into the hands of an everyday driver. but was instead destined to become an SCCA track superstar. It was built with the 351 4V engine. competition suspension. NASCAR-inspired steel wheels. shaker hood scoop and four-speed wide-ratio manual transmission; all the makings of a sleek and agile purebred racing machine. ” Today the car is exceptionally original except for one repaint. and showing just over 36. 00 miles. It is totally rust free. and still displays all factory spot welds and most factory markings. The floor pans have the original red oxide primer with white paint overspray as you would expect. And the interior is near perfect with only minor yellowing on the seat backs and a small one inch tear on the driver’s seat. The truck mat is a reproduction. The 351 Cleveland is complete and untouched down to the original Autolite carburetor wires. Factory markings remain on the original transmission and drive shaft. and the dual exhaust is just the way it left the factory. The competition suspension and all chassis components are original unrestored. with appropriate paint daubs. I’ve owned this car for 10 years. and unfortunately I’m running out of space at my new facility. I’m limiting myself to 60 cars…. and I’m full!!!! My loss is your chance to own a really interesting and unique car.
