Their all-new '49 model was being upstaged by GM's introduction of two door "hardtop convertibles". Dearborn couldn't get their pilarless hardtop into production for 2 more years. What to do? The answer: "Crestliner" --- a great idea. by upgrading a standard production car Ford created a stylish luxury coupe. 65 years later auto manufacturers are still upgrading standard production models to make them more luxurious and more stylish in order to make their cars more desirable. The 1950 Crestliner was a huge success selling 17. 00 units. Offered again in 1951 but without the huge success of the previous year due in part to Ford's own two door hardtop. Our Crestliner is an unrestored original survivor that shows 68390 miles which is believed accurate but we cannot confirm this. This classic Ford has been refinished but. to our eye. all sheet metal including the floors appear to be. never rusted FoMoCo original. The upholstery and door trim have some water staining but are. otherwise. in great shape for their age. with little apparent wear. The paint. the chrome and the trim are in excellent condition. Our award winning shop has reconditioned the car as necessary. There are no apparent concerns other than the radio and clock which are inoperative. This beauty runs and drives beautifully.
