Description

1966 Mustang Convertible Very nice complete 1966 Mustang Convertible. V8 automatic. The engine starts and runs great. the transmission shifts well as I drove it around my neighborhood. Engine has no knocks. ticks and no smoke. Transmission shifts very well and fluid is not burnt. looks and smells very good. Engine has great oil pressure as you can see in one of the pictures of the dash when it was running. The car seems to be all original. I bought it for a project to rebuild with my grandson only to find out I have to have my back operated on in April. There is no sense in letting this car sit around for a long time as I convalesce. I’ll just have to find something else when I have fully recuperated. The previous owner who I purchased it from stated it was last on the road about 4 years ago. Of course the car has rust on it. but it is not one of the see-through cars you usually see on here. Rust is mainly centered around the undercarriage as all are. It will need torque boxes and front floor pans to be done right. Owner told me the engine had been swapped out about 5 years ago to a 302. It has an aluminum 4bbl intake manifold and Carter AFB 4bbl carburetor on it. After checking it over to start. I put a set of points in it and it and it fired right up after draining the gas tank and refilling with fresh fuel. Car has dual exhausts with some type of performance mufflers that sound really nice. The power steering still works well after all of the years gone by. The power top switch activates the electric pump in both the up and down positions. I can’t see any signs of it ever being wrecked. The car even has the original snap on boot in the trunk for the convertible top when it is down. This car is by no means a show car but it is a very good project to rebuild or put some money in it and drive it like it is. The pictures illustrate everything I have tried to describe about this car. There is no warranty offered or implied with the sale of this vehicle. I have tried to describe this nice piece of history to the best of my ability. I have a clear Virginia title registered in my name for this vehicle. Thanks for looking and I hope this goes to someone who can appreciate it for what it is. a 50 year old original survivor that needs to have the attention it deserves. On Mar-23-15 at 01:24:11 PDT. seller added the following information: I want to answer some of the questions I have been receiving about the rust in the floor I have eluded to. I won't get back in to town until Wed or Thurs so I wanted to address questions as soon as possible so I have pulled a generic picture off of the internet of a 1966 Mustang (not my car)with the floor pan removed and the torque box/frame rail exposed. The floor pans are going to need to be replaced. You can find them all over e-bay for about $150. The frame rail that is exposed in the picture (not my car) generic picture is going to need rebuilding or replaced. Again all over e-bay and about $75-100 per side. As I said I won't get back to town for a few days so I pulled a generic pic off the internet to illustrate what needs to be repaired on my Mustang for illustration purposes to answer questions. I hope the extra information here helps. most motorheads that have messed with Mustangs know what I am trying to describe but I just wanted to try to answer any questions about the floor rust. Thank you for bidding . Mike
