Description

This is the 1979 Ford Mustang Pace Car Turbocharged Replica. modeled after the official 1979 Indy 500 Mustang Pace Car. This car has been in the family since it was just a few years old as we were the 2nd owner since December of 1983. It still runs and is in drive-home condition. not requiring a trailer to get it to its new home. This has been a wonderful car that has served us well. but it is time for it to find a new owner who can appreciate it for what it is and give it attention. This Mustang was the first year for the Fox body style. and this special car has a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 4-speed manual transmission. special turbo hood. front air dam. rear spoiler. back window louvers. body decals. sun roof. special black/white fabric Recaro racing seats with mesh headrests. padded steering wheel. and other features. The body paint is pewter and black with the special decals. It comes with a special waterproof car cover and the original storage upholstery bag for the sun roof that is removable. The rear seat folds down flat since this is a hatchback style. This car does have new shocks on the hatchback door so it will stay up on its own. This car does come with factory air conditioning that would work with being recharged as it has never had any added to it. so it blows but isn't cooling right now (R12). It has the factory cassette stereo with a factory booster. The original spare is included and has never been used. This car does not have the lettering on the sides of the car as some of these do since the set of lettering decals came with the car for the owners to decide to install on the car or not. but they were not with the car when we bought it so were never installed. This was so that owners who preferred to not have the lettering could choose to leave it off. The body is in overall good condition with a moderate dent in the right rear quarter panel that is hard to see from a slight distance but may be popped back out easily. There is a ding in the driver's door. The rear plastic bumper cover has some popping of paint on the driver's side especially where a car bumped it slightly. There are areas where the paint has worn down. but the body isn't rusty except for some small bubbles close to the sun roof on the top in one area. The underside of the car is rust-free and in great condition. It has all original paint and decals and has never been repainted. The engine is also all-original and has never been modified or replaced with only normal parts replaced as worn. The exhaust system has the original catalytic converter. It has new emergency brake cables very recently. It has a new fuel pump and a new accelerator pump in the carburetor. The windshield is original but does have one small speck in it. The windows are tinted slightly darker than original. The interior has an excellent dash that is without damage which is rare to find in a car this old. The door panels are excellent. and you couldn't ask for better in an original car of this age. The driver's seat does have a hole in the black fabric as shown with some wear to the foam underneath it. There is some wear to the patterned fabric as shown. but the back seat was very seldom even used since the car was usually driven with the hatchback panel in the down (flat) position. The carpet is still nice overall. The wheels are the original special aluminum rims that came on this car. The tires are not the original set but a 2nd set replaced in 1991 with plenty good enough tread to drive it home as it was driven much less after 1991 than in previous years. This car was never smoked in at all nor did it ever have pets in it. It would be an excellent car for someone wanting an original special limited-edition and production car that needs only small amounts of restoration to be show-quality. It has been a head-turner everywhere it goes for almost 40 years now. In recent years. it has been garage-stored and driven only occasionally to keep it in running condition. We can possibly work with the buyer for us to deliver it by car trailer up to about a 400-mile radius from Paragould. AR 72450 (Northeast Arkansas near Memphis. TN. and the Missouri boot heel).
