Description

The body is in GREAT Shape. It is a 1985.

I purchased this truck from the Federal Government in 2003. (ebay auction) It was sold to me as a one-ton transport van. What I purchased was a mobile break room (office) for Federal building inspectors who would be on large Federal projects.

The problem was the truck weighed 10,000 #’s empty. The GVW is 10,500. It had a humongous box. (From the back of the cab to the back of the truck is about 17’. It’s a 14’ frame with a 3’ extension. It was 8’ wide and it was too tall to fit in a 12’ door. The only place you could take it for service was for semi’ trucks.

I bought it in St. Louis MO with just under 18,000 miles and drove it home. I used it for a couple of years and it now shows 21,599. I came to the conclusion it was unsafe to drive since you would have the pedal to the floor trying to get up a hill in a wind doing maybe 50 mph. It has a 350 V8.

Three years ago we took off the box. At that time the frame was still black. I put on four new back tires when I bought it. The left front is the original spare which was just put on. The right front is the original tire showing dry rot. It's the tire in the photo.

The last time I had it on the road was 2009. I parked it because it needed brake work. The place I took it wanted me to authorize $1,000 worth of work before they figured out what was wrong. I told them to forget it and parked it. It turned out to needed a master cylinder, hich was replaced, nd I also just wired the rear tail lights. I purchased new plates, nsured it and never got it out on the road. A head light and the right side turn signal light are out.

I started it by pouring gas down the carburetor to prime it. Right after pouring the gas in I received a phone call. A few minutes later when I went to start it the motor sounded like it ground to a halt. The motor doesn’t turn. I assume I bent a rod or who knows what. To the best of my knowledge it’s not the starter causing trouble. I’m guessing it needs a new motor. I drained out the old gas and put new gas in. I had it running several times this summer. I have another truck and would use this once in a while if needed but I'm tried of spending money on storing it and now with the motor issues it's time to find a new home.

The dash is cracked from the sun. The seat was tore up when I bought it. For someone looking for a project this truck has a lot of potential.

I have a clear title in hand from the state of WI dated 11/10/2003. (title # 03314AF003-5 Control # 2-614047 if it matters) As I bought it from the Fed's it was one number short on the VIN #. To get this listing to work I changed the date to 1980 which doesn't need a vin #. (it is a 1985)The Vin # on the title is 1GDJC34MXFS51624. As I insured it my insurance company also asked about this but once they realized it was from the Fed's I didn't have a problem. The title does state it was previously owned by the U.S Government. As I have used it, he plates have expired and been renewed several times. I had it listed over 10,000 lbs where you could license it for 3 months at a time. You didn't have to license it for the year.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks for looking.
