Description

Premise: If you are going to bid. contact me and let me know you're legit. last person that won the auction just made what was a bad week a worse week for no apparent reason other than that they are not a good human by outbidding everyone just to tell me they don't have any money. Have I ever mentioned that heartbreak is rough? I'm pretty sure my brain has accepted it as a rule of physics that this girl should want only me no matter how much attention I pay her. I guess that is what happens to the chemical receptors in your brain after dating someone for 4. 5 years. Yeah I didn't want to get married. i'm selfish. yeah I didn't want kids. i'm selfish. But now i'm in that black hole alone feeling that makes you feel under weight of the impossibility of spending that much time with someone again. rebuilding everything. let alone finding someone that loves you as much as she did. Never in a thousand years did I think I was going to get dumped. but she got stronger than me and i'm so proud/happy for what she has become. This city is lucky I brought her here. because there is nothing else like her. obviously since guys are lining up to steal her from me. Yeah I'm talking about a real girl not this Del Sol. but I digress. FYI this is a NO RESERVE auction. whatever it goes for it goes for. I'm just trying to get this car back in the public spotlight for 7 days of fame. The automobile is a vessel for memories. escape routes. trips taken. and ways found. I had to go to Atlanta for cross cultural communication training (diversity) and anytime I go to a city I don't really want to be in I check Craigslist to see what is out there because I believe in saving lives (cars). I found this del sol which has been sheltered in the garage of a retired engineer for 2 decades. He thought the engine was on the way out which is where I was on the way in. It just needed the valves adjusted. they were making some noise because they had never been adjusted. thats all. This is a 1 owner car. He bought it from the dealer with about 35k miles on it as it was used as a demo car (and had every single service done by the book at the dealer. marked in the book people never fill out) and never titled. The car has no wrecks recorded. ever. It has around 80k miles and has 3 folders full of receipts and service logs. I have the autocheck printout showing that it ranks about 20 points higher than similar vehicles in the range. it has a perfect record and just so happens to be the rare Del Sol VTEC. I never understood Honda's marketing efforts on these things. because you had the Del Sol S which was base model. Del Sol Si which was still a meak D series engine. Then just the Del Sol with a VTEC badge on the trunk like this one (badge removed by owner) that came with a factory B16A3. the first B16 to ever hit our shores and the only car that ever had the B16A3. They have a tad higher compression than the B16A1 but the same power rating of 160hp. He did no modifications other than wiring it up for Sirius/XM. a remote key fob. and a small trailer hitch to tow leaves between his yards. I couldn't let some kid pick it up in ATL. I felt like it needed to be shown to the world so someone looking for this car to do right by it could find it. here are the details as I know them. Interior: Interior wise the car is a 9/10 for its age. Every single thing works like new. the only damage is a small tear in the drivers bolster like every other 90's Japanese sports car which is easy to fix as they are basically covered with T-Shirt material. And it has one small crack in the defroster vent by the green vin plate. That is it. Factory original everything. and the dash has had enough armor all on it to survive 10 years in the desert. No warning lights on the dash. all the lights and switches work perfect. no water leaks. smells new. CD Changer still works great or you can pop in a sirius/XM head unit as its already wired. All power features work like new including the rear window. Nothing but good things to say. Exterior: Exterior wise it is a solid 8/10 for its age. There is a small spot of clear coat peeling on one of the fenders and one small spot on the trunk. But I waxed/sealed them so they won't get any worse and from 15 feet away you can't see them. There is 1 dent on the whole car and its on the bottom of the left fender. also hard to see. The paint shines really well for an older honda because it was kept in doors. The targa might have been painted at some point but only an expert would be able to tell. none of the other panels have been repaired. The rear bumper has a slight indent where maybe a leaf bag trailer bumped it but also. hard to see. though it is faded which is an easy fix. Overall driving around the car looks near new. Stock wheels. stock lights. every light works. every panel works. trunk props are good but you do have to have someone open while you lift the lever or just use the key. Car is obviously minty mint. Mechanical: Ah yes my favorite section. can I give it a 10/10? There isn't anything wrong with it that I can find. The valves are adjusted to spec. 0. 07 on the intake 0. 08 on the exhaust. oh I do remember there might be a small oil leak from the VTEC solenoid which is common or someone just spilled some oil during an oil change. I wiped it away and it hasn't come back so who knows. I literally saw a hand written record of every single Mobil 1 full synthetic oil change that he did on top of the dealer services. It is all original everything with only basic maintenance. I put new plugs in it when I adjusted the valves as they looked old. Oh and I put brand new Nexen tires on it along with a 4 wheel laser alignment. Car drives perfect. timing belt done on age not miles. transmission is butter no grinds. brakes are crisp. suspension has no pops/squeaks. all stock so its soft. Never had a modification done to it ever. it is a 80k something mile mint maintained factory B16A3 car not a swap. I guess its the original clutch etc. he just followed the recommended maintenance based on age because he barely put any miles on it. VTEC crosses hard at 5800rpms (no i'm not beating up on it but I had to test it). it does have a little oil burn when cold like every other 90's honda ever made. The inside of the cylinder head is effing spotless. I mean it never went a milisecond over on an oil change and always had high quality stuff in it. I had to take a picture I was surprised by how clean it was for its age. It is a 20 year old car. with all original everything. I would drive it to california and back without hesitation. The tires had plenty of tread when I got it but they were old and dry rotted so I replaced them. Car pulls straight. no vibrations. engine is smooth. no noises. Quite possibly one of the last all stock unmolested factory B16A3 Del Sols you'll ever see. Thanks for looking. good luck bidding. if you have any questions text 704-576-5004. FYI this is a no reserve auction.
