Our family is selling this Honda Odyssey that we purchased newon October 11th, 001. We have completed many trips and created numerous memories in our van and really hate to see it go. It has been a very reliable method of transportation for us and we have kept it in good shape. However, t is time to move on to another Honda as we have just purchased a brand new Pilot. I am going to describe the vehicle in extreme detail for two reasons: I want to make sure the potential buyer is completely aware ofthe status of all systems and is an informed buyer. We are a very honest family and we are just doing what we would expect someone elseto do for us. I also take pride in my 100% feedback rating and would like to keep it at 100%. Please forgive me if I get a little wordy, ut I want to convey as much as I can about the vehicle. It does need a little work to a few systems here and there but nothing appears to be seriously wrong since we have driven it. It is important to let you knowthat the van's engine has always started right up and runs strong, nd the transmission has been replaced by the Honda dealer at 160,000 miles. For the more detailed information, lease see below:
Engine: The oil changes have been completed at intervals of 4000 miles since we have owned it. The timing belt was replaced at 100,000 miles. All motor mounts were replaced at 190,000 milesThe throttle plate and intake passages were cleaned at 184,000 miles. The fuel pump relay was changed at 179,000 milesIt does not burn any oil and does not leak any oil. Engine operates very well and has great pickup without hesitation.
Transmission: As stated above, eplaced with a brand new unit at the Honda dealership. Runs smooth and shifts smooth.
Suspension, teeringand brakes: The brakes were replaced front and rear at 131,000 miles. Stops very well with no spongy pedal and no pulling upon hard braking. The rotors have some light rust on them due to not being driven every day.Given the fact that there is 71,000 miles on the brakes, he brakes will need to be inspected to see if the pads need to be replaced. There are no known problems or issues with the suspension. There is a small leak at either the power steering hoses or the power steering pump. Not sure which one. It is very slow to leak and drops about one or two drops of power steering fluid a week. Steering is tight, hereare no alignment issues or pulling while driving straight down the road. Steering wheel is straight.
Exhaust and emissions: The vehicle passed the most recentemissions test for Illinois. The exhaust is original and has no known leaks from the catalytic converter back. In front of the converter is the flexiblepipe coming from the engine and there is a smallleak at this pipe. It is not very loud but it is present. The heat shield for the catalytic converter rattles when the car idles.
Electrical system, ights and instrument panel: The LCD odometerreadout on the dash works but every so often the LCD screen fades. This has not been a big issue for us and we never had it repaired. It does not cause any problems and tapping the dash makes it readable again when it does happen. All interior and exteriorlights on the vehicle work. Wipers, adio, D playercruise control, ower locks and power windows all work properly. Heat last winter worked fine. A/C worksokaybut we have never had the A/C system recharged. We do notice it is not asice cold as when new but it does put out cool air. It will probably need to be recharged. There areno known issues otherwise with the A/C condenser, ines and evaporator.
Tires: The tires all match and are all season tires purchased at 162,000 miles. There is even wear across the tire signaling no alignment issues. The tread depth when new was 10/32". All tires have 6/32" remaining of tread depth.
Exterior:This vehicle has had onecrackto the rear bumper from being rear ended by another car driving at about 5 to 10 MPH while we werestoppedin heavy traffic on I294 in July of 2008.Vehicle was repaired by a State Farmauthorized body shop. They replaced the rear bumper and painted the bumper. Total amount of repairs was $1400. The frame and other sheet metal was not affected or damaged. Prior to this incident, here was an even smallercrack to the back bumper from a tap from behind at a stop sign. Two years ago, hile parked in a parking lot, nother vehicle pulled into a space too far and tapped the back causinga crackto the red lens and a small dent to the trunk. Pictures show the dent and the lens. This lens is just a reflective lens and is not the lens for the brake or tail light.Therewas never anymajor or moderate damage to the vehicle in it's lifetime. There aretwo very small spots (About adime size) of verylight surface rust from a scratch that started several years ago, ne above the LF tire, ne above the LR tire. Pictures will show theseclearly. Light surfacerust on the bottom edge of the trunk. See picture.Otherwise, hereare theusual door dings or scratches one would usually find on a 13 year old vehicle. Overall though, he body is in very good shape. The exterior handle for the passenger side sliding door does not work. The interior one does work. All other handles are fine inside and out. All doors close and operate well.
Interior: There has never been any cigarette or cigar smoking ever in the vehicle and there has never been any pets in the vehicle (other than when we picked up the kids' hamsters at the pet store!) The seats are not ripped and are inexcellent condition. Please see pictures. The passenger side door near the handlehas some material coming away from the inside. Please see picture. All seats operate perfectly and all original floor mats were kept in the vehicle and are actually in very good condition and do not have any holes in them. We actually used cut up pieces of new carpeting every year and put those over the floor mats to keep them in good condition. Headliner and headrests are in excellent condition.
So that about sums up everything that we can think of that the new owner will need to know. As with any vehicle, ew problems can surface at any time and we take no responsibility for any future problems that may or may not arise. It is our intention to have a family use this vehicle and have as much fun in it as we have had. We are really hoping it finds a good home. It doeshave a few items that need fixing but as youcan see, he bones and structureare excellent. Please contact me if you need any specific pictures of other things and Iwill do my best to take the picture and send it to you.
