Dinan Stage 1 tune 690hp still under warranty

The 2013 BMW M5 is already a fast and powerful car. It pumps out 560hp from its twin-turbocharged and intercooled, irect injected DOHC 32-valve 4.4 liter V-8. That is until Dinan works its magic on it and cranks the power up to a beastly 690hp.

The Dinan work was done at the local BMW of Austin dealer earlier this year and the car is still under warranty.

Helping put the power down is a reinforced seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with an electronic limited-slip differential and an aluminum horse-collar mount for added rigidity. The dual-clutch auto is excellent with instantaneous upshifts and downshifts that are only minutely slower.

The suspension includes forged aluminum components that are unique to the

M5, s is the variable-ratio steering gear with hydraulic instead of electric boost.

Stopping is handled by the iron and aluminum brake rotors clamped by unique radial-mount, onoblock front calipers housing six asymmetrically sized pistons per wheel and a unique front crossmember. There is also a unique rear-suspension cradle that is rigidly mounted to the unibody to eliminate the weight and flex of rubber bushings. Additionally, here are stiffening rods and shear plates underneath that provide extra bracing.

The exterior is finished in Azurite Black Metallic, deep dark metallic blue and the interior leather is Silverstone II, light gray.
