Description

I think with 17years of driving experience and having driven many cars, he Honda Insight is the vehicle am going to change the H to "V" and jack the price up soon. The owner of this car proofed it stating, All those other cars cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and gulp down fuel like a fighter jet. You want this one". These days people don't give credit where credit is due, he Japs did it and am giving them credit. Do not stay fooled by gas prices secure your own economy with the best fuel economy ever made. Vehicle drives well but needs little service, he good and bad on this car in previous owners own words below. Selling As Is without warranty!
THE GOOD
- Although the car has over 170K miles, he interior is in excellent condition: good upholstery, ash, ittings, o weird smells (no smoking, o pets) and has incredibly few buzzes and rattles for a car of this vintage. There is one small hole in the driver's side seat, ut it's not very noticeable, nd most of the rest of the interior looks like it's from a car half its age.
- The car gets fantastic mileage, f course. Usually in the low/mid-50s when not using the AC or heat and in the high-40s when it's very cold outside or hot and using the AC.
- It handles like all Hondas: tight and agile. The turning radius is excellent for parking, hich is always easy anyway because the car is tiny.
- The rear tires are almost new, ith only a couple of thousand miles.
- The heat and air conditioning systems are both strong and work well.
- I replaced the head gasket a year or two ago, o the gas engine should still have many good miles in it.
- I've maintained the car responsibly, ith regular oil changes and all the basic fluids checked and topped off regularly.
-This car is surprisingly great in the snow. You wouldn't think it because it's so small and light, ut it's the best car I've ever had for winter driving. Good news for next year, ssuming there's more snow than we had over the past few months.
THE BAD
The car has a number of problems you should know about:
- The check engine light is on, hich my mechanic says is because the fuel lines are corroded and have a leak. they need to be replaced.
- The brake lines are in the same channel as the fuel lines and have similar corrosion, o they should be replaced at the same time.
- There's a small exhaust leak, nd to fix it you need to replace the front gasket and spring bolt kit that connect it to the manifold.
- The plastic skid plate on the bottom of the car has been removed because it was cracked in several places and falling off. This is common for Insights produced during this time period.
- The extreme right end of the instrument panel works intermittently. all important controls for driving and emergency notifications work: the part that comes and goes is the indicator for main hybrid battery status and whether the gas engine is currently charging or drawing power from that battery.
- The hatchback doesn't unlock when you use the remote door opener, o you have to put the key in and turn it by hand. All other door locks, indows, tc. work perfectly.
- The gear shifter is sometimes easy to operate, ut sometimes it requires more force than you'd expect to move. Because this is also a sporadic problem, y mechanic says the shifter may just need lubrication, ut I mention it in the spirit of full disclosure.
- There are many small chips in the paint, arking lot door dings, tc. as you'd expect from a 14-year-old car. The front bumper trim is bolted in place in an odd way from some unknown minor event that happened with the previous owner.
