Honda Z600 Super Coupe needs to go to a better home.

The car is a 1972 Honda Z600 Super Coupe. All numbers matching and we did our best to save every single original part so in 20 years when someone else restores it that they will have as much information as possible. We pulled the motor and refreshed it. We did not go internal as the compression was fabulous and it burned cleaned. We did however replace the clutch (might as well, e were there) and any gaskets that we could get to without tearing into the internals. Replaced the points, ad the carb rebuilt by a vintage Honda motorcycle specialist. Rebuilt the linkage to the transmission so it would shift easier, hat being said it still takes some getting used to (tricky little bastard). Went through the break system replaced all moving and warn parts. Now that the running gear was flawless we started on the cosmetic. I stripped the car of the top layer of paint very carefully and with 220. This gave me the opportunity to study the metal in detail. The car was surprisingly bondo free and cancer free. I then pulled the front fenders and re worked any small dings they might have had and ran them through the English wheel. Once reassembled I sealed the car with urethane primer and shot her with a beautiful metal flake blue (I didn’t use the original color but I did come close (it wasn’t my car and hey…the kid wanted a slight metallic). Once I hit it with 4 coats, than began taping off the original stripes from the dealership. I studied the lines before I took them off and all lines are within .0625 tolerance. Sprayed them white and finished it off with a vinyl red pin stripe. Once I got to that point (even though I consider myself a good painter) I loaded her on the trailer and had a professional shop put a clear on her and color sand it down. When the car got home I went through and cleaned up the engine bay, he wheels and side flares (which are also all original). At this late in the game and a son who is starting to get impatient and out of money we had to get clever with the interior. We made door panels and added a flavor to the design work with supplies from the local upholstery store. The rear seats had tears along the top from sun rot so I had to make the decision on whether or not to have the seats redone. I feel that on any other car I wouldn’t have cared but being as these cars are so few and far between and so hard to get parts for that we would try and restore them without redoing them (so that if the next guy wants to make them exact OEM replicas he would have 100 percent of the information needed. I did this by using the closet grain vinyl I could find and getting creative to make them look as if they were stock I carefully attached vinyl over the cracks and I have to say, t looks pretty damn good. I then went on a quest for seat covers that would fit the fronts and yeah…. No way Jose. Those are by far the smallest seats on the planet so I special ordered some seat covers that were similar to the original design, ook the seat apart (without removing the original covers and attached the new covers and re assembled the seats. The carpet is new however it’s not perfect, hey don’t have a carpet kit so I made each piece by hand but also, ooks amazing. I then matched the color with SEM vinyl stain and now we have a really good looking interior that I’m very proud of ( I started working on hot rods 30 years ago by doing interior so I pride myself on my work) so that’s basically it.

We built the car as a father son project and I can’t think of a better reason to let it go. If you have any questions, lease feel free to contact us. I will answer any questions the best of my knowledge. I want to be clear this is not a concourse car by any means, ut I wouldn’t doubt it if you took home some trophy’s….it’s that neat. Here are a list of parts and all the things you can expect when you receive the car.

Parts you will need to finish the car to 100%

· - Rear view mirror

· -Sun visors

· -Passenger side lock knob (threads onto door, he little black piece you pull and push to lock the door)

· - Rear plastic cover for the back interior (covers the tail lights. ours crumbled)

You will need a final tune up and the breaks need to bled one last time.

Other than that the car is stunning. It’s a great runner, ou can absolutely drive it home, ll registration is current and up to date. The CB radio works and as does the 8 track. I will even throw in a little Elvis Presley. The tires are brand new, he brakes are new, he fluids are all new it just runs a little rough because the points need to be adjusted. I’ve listed all the negatives on the car and you can see all the positives. Once again, s the car perfect? No, ut I dare you to find a nicer Z600 (much less a Super Coupe) in better condition with the impossible to find aluminum mag wheels - I double-dog dare ya. Take care and thanks for looking.
