1972 Pontiac Le Mans
-Have the clear title in hand-Unsure of the actualmileage. It's been my experience that speedometer cables don't last 40+ years so....-Originally aCarouselRed w/Black top (see attached picture of what it must have looked like with this combination)-Now a beautiful driver quality silver color with the top removed
-I was told I was the 4th owner (not sure if that's correct)-Originally a 350/350 car-Now a year correct 400/400-AC car but was removed by the previous owner. The dash controls are still intact-Runs Good/Shifts like a new rebuilt. Transmission appears to had been freshly rebuilt by the previous owner and has a shift kit
-Engine 1972 Pontiac 400 Torker II Manifold topped with a Holley Carb Edelbrock air cleaner and valve covers HEI ignition Appearsrelativitystock running Starts right up with no smoke. When I drive it I have no worries Unknown mileage on the engine but runs like there's plenty of life left Could use completion of the exhaust. Stock manifolds currently stopped at the rearaxle. The pipe and mufflers are newer
-Transmission Year correct Turbo 400 Original floor shifter Appears to have been rebuilt recently meaning before Ipurchasedthe car Shifts as if there's a Stage II shift kit
-Tires 90% tread life (look near new). 15" w/PMD knock-offs. 7" in front 8" in rear
-Body Previous owner did all the bodywork and paint (II stage/color-clear) Flat black in the center of the hood which gives it a nice detail. Maybe a 15 footer? There are a couple areas of chipped paint at the hood/nose Lower panels at the fenders and quarters Rocker molding w/400 badge Added rear wing which makes this care really look cool! Trunk has a mat that's glued down. The trunk looks nice Comes with new door seals still in the package
-Interior Black/Black Original PMD floor Shifter w/Console Power front seats, indows and locks Drivers seat has seam splits and should be recovered could use a new drive belt. The rest of the seats look pretty good. Passenger front has a minor seam split at the top Original dash pad has crack (see pic) There's new carpet but needs to be reinstalled correctly remolding it into the inside corners There is a aftermarket stereo. The speakers crackle so they may need replacing but there is sound Window controls are loose in the door panels Speedo and Tach (aftermarket) work Fuel gauge ify...needs a new sending unit likely
I do have the car for sale locally andreserve the right to remove this listing.

Mileage: The current Odometer reading is 85,233 and could be original but for a vehicle of this age and not knowing the cars full history I cannot say that it's the original mileage but it could be.
Exterior condition: I'm not a body guy but I describe it as a driver. I measure that by it can be driven without worrying about parking it in a lot with other cars without freaking out if someone pulls next to me but would probably move to another spot. It's not a trailer queen but fun to bring to cruise night sort of thing. Body and paint is about a 7-8 out of 10 maybe, gain I'm not a body guy. A professional might gauge it differently. It doesn't appear to have been in any accidents. Paint shines but is not perfect. Some blemishes. Looks like it's never been wet sanded which would enhance even further. Could use some fine tuning on the panels to line up especially at the bottom fender to door locations. I also have most if not all of the vinyl top chrome if someone wanted to restore the top back to vinyl.

Radio/Stereo: The radio in this car is an older aftermarket before the single hole units came out. This radio was not cut in like you see at times where people have ruined in my opinion the dash front by making a gaping cut to accept these new stereos. This car has the original unmolested 3 holes to accept original stereo units with no modifications.
Paint: Again, like it however it's everyone's personal perception and all cars look better in pics than in person if yo ask me. Not sure when it was painted but when I got it didn't have the door seal (still in the packaging) on. On the whale tail there are 2 small build-up drips of clear on the tail edge. This tells me that the car was never wet sanded. Quality, t wasn't done by a restoration level shop but looks good. Door jams are painted.
HEI: Not sure if it's aftermarket or original Pontiac. I just know that it seems to operate properly.
Radiator: Never been asked this one before but happy to answer it. It appears to be the original. Not sure of its condition other than it does not leak...not while I've had it that is.
Suspension: I cant tell if it's all original or if it's ever had work done. It looks older. The rear shock are air shocks and look older. I'd replace them if I kept the car. The steering is straight and the car brakes well.
Wheels:They've been painted factory color but looks somewhat amateurish, ut from 10 feet away you can't tell. I've done these wheels both PMD's and SS types several times and with the blasting, tencil and paint it's around $75-80 and a couple days to do if you wanted them re-done. Each stage I put them in the oven at 200 degrees and they always turn out great. These wheels do not come with the trim rings but do come with the original red PMD knock-offs.
Windows:The operable windows are electric and appear to have the original motors so they're slower than what you'd see in a new car for instance. The driver rear I believe is the slowest. I was told by a buddy of mine that you can remove the door panels and lubricate the arms and most of them will come back to life. The windshield has a slight crack that you can barely pick-up through the tint on the passenger side. I recall it being about 1/2" or so in from the trim. If you were going to have a crack, his is where you would want it to be. Let me know if you would like a picture of it and I'll get the best shot I can.
Console: It's in good original condition and does have the insert box.
Accessories: All appear to work with exception of the horn but I don't want to chance taking apart the steering wheel assembly to look for the problem. It could be an under dash or hood issue...not sure.
Dash: Yes is cracked as earlier described, ee pic. This pic represents the worst of it. If I kept it I would send it of to be recovered anyway $225 + shipping last I looked but you could throw a dash cover on it temporarily.
Add Items:1. I'll throw in a set of used headers and a 2-1/2" header back A-body exhaust system that came off my 70 GTO. It was a Midas job and has Magnaflow mufflers. Very little surface rust on the header collector and hanger areas but I can clean those up for you. I can have it installed but it would be extra to do so or if you're a local buyer you can pick-up with the car and install yourself. 2. I have a set of brand new never installed '72 GTO correct chrome exhaust twin turnout tips. Again correct styling for this year for the GTO. I will throw those in as well.
Answers to Questions:
Engine: The engine I was told came out of a 1972 Carolina. It is a 481988/400 and appears to be stock. The heads are 7J2 96cc. The only items I see that are not stock on the engine are the intake manifold, arburetor, istributor, ir cleaner and valve covers. I was going to remove the heads and have the studs changed to screw in and have a valve/spring job done to accept a Comp Cams 268 which is perfect for these lower compression heads and combination. Of course it runs good as-is and if you like stock sleeper sound and performance you'll be happy the way it sits.On Jan-06-16 at 16:23:21 PST, eller added the following information:
Answer from aQuestion:Exterior Chrome. It's all original except for the drip rail which looks new. The previous owner installed it and didn't know how I'm guessing. And looking at it, should have mentioned it's condition in the original description. If the winner has an issue with it I've researched the cost to replace and will lower my reserve to cover this. Thank you.
