This 2008 Hyundai Tucson was my fiancé's car she bought new that was then handed down to her daughter when she went away to college about a year and a half ago. While she was home over Christmas break she started it. heard a strange noise. saw the oil light was on. shut it off and came inside to let us know. I'm no mechanic but I went out and it did the same thing for me. which to me sounded like some part of the engine was not getting oil pressure. It had never done anything like this prior to this. Sat morning I started it up and it sounded OK so we drove it around the corner to the local service station and they confirmed intermittent low to no oil pressure and recommended a used engine. I asked a buddy and they said it could be any number of things. including that the oil uptake was clogged with sludge. the oil pump could be failing. an oil pressure relief valve may be stuck open. a bearing could have failed. an oil passageway could be clogged. etc. When we started it at the shop it sounded perfectly fine so we drove it home. In the last 100yrds it started making the noise again so we parked it and gave Ei's daughter my old Volvo wagon to take back to school with her. Its basically been sitting since late December because there were 2 more payments left on the car. It is still making the noise. Its now fully paid off and the loan documents are attached so we are trying ebay to see if there is anyone that is mechanically inclined that is interested in tracking down and repairing the issue as we really don't have the time or the inclination or the funds to mess with it ourselves. Before this engine noise appeared there was essentially nothing wrong with the car except that the steering wheel has been picked at. the rear gate gets stuck shut from time to time and the paint and rear bumper around the driver's side rear wheel arch has been bonked. We had just put 2 new tires on it maybe 1 to 2 thousand miles ago and all 4 look nearly new now. We also had the brakes and suspension inspected when the tires were installed and everything was reported to be fine. Please feel free to ask any questions. Local inspections are welcome in the evenings and weekends. Shipping and any other costs (beyond ebay) of course rest with the buyer. And there's obviously no warranty. Thanks for looking.
