Last year of the big cat! Up for auction is this very nice 1996 Jaguar XJS Convertible that has the super reliable inline 6 cylinder (often rated as one of the best engines ever made). I've had a couple XJS in the past and the V12. though its nice to have that many cylinders. is the worst engine I have ever had in a car but this 6 cylinder purrs like the kitten it is. just a dream to drive. Quiet smooth and powerful. this car just likes to go! Put it in gear and its almost like an electric car. mph just keep increasing with very little effort or notice. This one has only about 76K miles so it is ready for many more. Exterior is a desirable combination of white and tan. the interior color is almost a bone white. not sure if that was factory or just from sun fade but it still looks very nice (there is a minor blemish on the rear seat that I tried to show in a photo and the center console lid has age related cracking to it). Paint shines and this car looks good from any angle. Brakes are good. suspension drives like a luxury car should with bumps on the road barely noticeable. This car is being sold with 2 sets of rims. you get a set of Dayton wire wheels which you will see on the driver side and another set of OEM XJS chrome rims on the passenger side. Spare is in the trunk. as is the cd changer. The original radio is gone. (I do have a factory original radio out of a parts car but I doubt it work. nbsp;this also will be included if you want it) and in its place is a new one set up for satellite and USB ports for portable music. Exhaust sounds great. this is a very quiet . well mannered car. That said. it being a 20 year old Jaguar there are some issues. First. the power top is a manual top. why they even set this car up with a power top is beyond me as it takes all of about 5 seconds to put the top down. I have not looked into the reason why the top does not work as I see no need to fix it as you can put it up and down faster and much more reliably than any power system. The convertible top boot is include though it is a few shades different than the interior. Top itself is in good shape but not new shape. In general do not expect a concours grade cruiser and this car will not disappoint. if you want perfection I would tell you to go elsewhere. This car is nice but it is not perfect. Next. the a/c does not turn on. The blower and temperature dials work fine but all the top buttons on the climate control do not work. I again have not looked far into this as it is a convertible and it is meant to be driven with the top down. a/c off. I am including a full climate control assembly from another 1996 XJS as well as an A/C compressor and condenser in with the sale of the car. Finally. the rear deck will not lock down therefore the power locking system will not lock until this is fixed. It is an easy fix and I am working on it but can't guarantee that it will be remedied. Tires on the car are good for many more miles but if you are like me a new set always gives me best piece of mind. The wire wheels tires are dry rotted so I will be taking off all 4 tires and just including the rims. Fly in and drive this car anywhere. you will love it. I have many cars. some not so ordinary and this one gets as many looks as much more rare and expensive cars. There is something about the Jaguar emblem that just exudes confidence & class. I am sure I am forgetting lots so if you have any questions please email me. In summary this is a very nice turn key car that will require a little work as would be expected on any used car. there are no weird smells. no weird noises and no bad dash lights! Also. nbsp; There is NO RESERVE so bid what you want. I do have it for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thanks for looking!
