Lovelyone family-owned 1950 Riley RMB (2-1/2-liter)acquired from Marley Motors of Warwick RI in 1952 with just 9K miles.
Used as daily transportation by a Boston area family then placed in dry storage in 1956. In 1971, he vehicle was subject to a full mechanical rebuild including engine, uel system and brakes. Used sparingly until having a bare-metal respray, ew top and door panels, eadliner and carpets in 1975. Rod bearings replaced with shells in 1979. Driven regularly and always well maintained then stored in 2010.
Superb running engine with plenty of smooth long-stroke power. 40-year old paint shows well with customary nicks and a few areas of crazing. Just the right patina to the originalleather seats. Bluemels Brooklands steering wheel with custom hub. Rare mechanical tachometer. Club SS exhaust system. Supplementary electrical cooling fan, eat belts and turn signals. Excellent Avon Turbospeed 600x16 tires.
Numerous spares including new Pertronix electronic ignition conversion, air of new LeMans headlamps, rille shell,Butler pass lamp parts, ar cover. Also Owner's/Workshop/Spare Parts manuals, eceipts dating back to 1952 and original sales literature.Areas requiring attention: oil leak from rear of pan which occasionally causes slipping clutch, nd driver's side carpet is worn.Sale also includes a rare (one of 500) Riley RMD (Drophead) parts car.UK-based Riley RM Club supports owners with a vast inventory of new and used spares.
One of the handsomest early postwar English vehicles and a delight to drive with a crisp 4-speed synchro box and sharp rack-and-pinion steering.
Injust a few short years, rices have sharply escalated for English and European vehicles where some Jaguar sedans are fetching over $70,000!
