Description

This is a Southern California 1962 Jaguar XKE roadster. Note a sampling of the vehicle registrations over the years in one of the photos.
The first two photos are samples only to show how this car looks in the silver blue and why this color is so spectacular.
Mileage on the odometer shows just 22,995.
A restored 1961 XKE roadster (in a funky brown color) just sold last week for $380,800.00 at the Keno Auction in New York. This E-TYPE needs to be completed, s shown in the photos.
I purchased the car about 8 or so years ago with plan of making it a high performance XKE. At the time it was a good running daily driven Jaguar but I wanted a perfect car and so restoration work was begun at a local exotic car repair and restoration shop. However, he mechanic who was working on my car left to go work on Ferraris in Dubai and so for the last 8 years the car has (literally) been sitting on a hydraulic lift for all these years! (No exposure to moisture here!)
Since I purchased the car the value of the XKE, articularly the super early cars like this one, as gone up dramatically. Such that the only logical thing to do is restore it back to stock. I simply do not have the time at this point in my life to do the restoration so I am putting the car up for sale, his time with its matching number engine and the original four speed manual gearbox. Plus, y passion was for a high performance build not a stock build. But with the collectablity of these very early E-Types this car is better suited to a pure restoration.
On the other-hand, f it does not sell now a Ferrari mechanic has offered to do the labor on the restoration for $10,000 and I will take him up on his offer.
Included in the sale are thousands of dollars in new replacement parts, any of which be duplicative. E.g., he original bumpers are in good shape but i purchased another set anyway. Similarly, he door handles, tc. The wire wheels are new as well. The interior (seats, oor panels, tc.) are good enough to probably use as is but if someone is restoring it they should be gone over as well. Jaguar built very few XKE roadsters in 1962. When this car was built there were only around 4,000 XKE roadsters produced globally for model years 1961 and 1962 combined. (That's an average of about 2,000 cars a year while Ferrari is producing more than 6,000 cars a year.)
The engine has been looked over and determined to be in good overall shape. However, hoever buys it and finishes the restoration should go through and check the motor for themselves to ensure it is in proper order for installation in the restored XKE.
It's getting harder and harder to find these early XKEs unrestored and in solid condition like this Southern California car. This is a great winter project that will make the new happy owner a nice return on their investment. The car is sold As Is.
