This is a 1985 early production M491. Before I purchased the car I emailed my friend Norbert in Germany to verify that is was a Factory M491 (Copy of email in the photos). Norbert started the Wide Body Registry. This car is #40 of 213 U.S. M491 cars built for 1985. I did request and receive a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche, nd it does confirm that the car has a Turbo Look Body (photo Attached). I purchased the car a little over a year ago from Arizona. I don’t know much about the cars history. Carfax records start when the car had roughly 115k miles on it already. It is my understanding the car spent most of it’s life in CA. After I bought the car I found an ad for the car in a discussion forum. It was from 2013 when the car had 155k miles, nd it now has 160k miles. I believe the guy I purchased the car from bought the car from this owner. The guy that posted the ad described it as a “semi garage find”. He said it had only been driven 5,500 miles in 7 seven years, nd this was written in 2013. He also said the car had a “major tune up” at 150k miles. Some of the other items that he mentions are a Steve Wong Chip, ront End Quick Rack, nd 930 Tie Rods. This is what I know about the car. The car is NOT a Factory Slant Nose. However, he conversion was done very well in my opinion. The fenders are Steel and the Headlights are round. I am not sure what kind of headlight motors it has. But the car has proper fender liners and the lights work flawlessly. The car had Speedline wheels on it when I bought it, ut I have since put on Ruff Style wheels from that period. They may be Factory Ruff wheels, ut I can’t confirm that. The car also had an aftermarket Stereo in it, nd I have put in a Blaupunkt head unit. The rear speakers are the only ones working at this point. It also has 993 Turbo Calipers and Rotors (Stops Amazing Well!). The transmission has a short shift kit on it, nd it is hard to get the car into first and second gear. I used to own a Porsche Shop (TruSpeed Motorcars), nd I had my technician pull the transmission TWICE to inspect it. He says the inside of the trans looks to be brand new or recently rebuilt. The car HAS been re-painted at some point, nd it was done VERY well in my opinion. It almost looks as though it was a “light” restoration. All the gaskets look new. All the grommets and washers’ look new, tc. I assume this was done when they converted it to a Slant, ut I don’t know this for sure. It looks as though they changed the color slightly when they repainted it. The Color Tag on the car and the COA both say the car is Iris Blue Metallic. However, t looks to dark to be Iris Blue to me. I also took the carpet out of the front trunk and it looks to be a slightly lighter color blue. I do have photos. The Carfax and Autocheck are both clean but don’t have that much information. The car has the spare tire. I also purchased an owner’s manual, ervice manual, nd pouch for the car. I have extensive pictures in a Dropbox that I can email to anyone interested. I can also say that I have not had ANY issues with the car. It has been sitting in my garage for weeks, nd there is only one TINY little oil spot on the ground. The car starts right up every time with no issues. Please email me with any questions!
