Description

Excellent condition 3rd owner E38 I purchased from a man in North Dakota who bought it from the original owner. The original owner was a business owner from ND who spent a few summer months a year in North Dakaota and the other months in California. The few summer months a year he was in ND he drove the BMW. It was never driven in the winter and was stored in a climate controlled garage. I have owned 12 E38s and 4 of them have been Sports. This is by far the nicest original condition E38 I have owned. I bought it last year with about 56,000 miles on it. I really don't know because the pixels were so bad I could not exactly read the number. I know it started with a 5 though and it took about 3 or 4,000 miles to turn into a 6. Then I sent the instrument cluster in to the company in Clear Lake IL to have the pixels repaired.
Anyway, guarantee the miles to be original and guarentee it was never in any kind of major accident. I also doubt it was in any minor accident or fender bender because the paint looks so perfect and matches all the way around. I have a lift at home and have looked at its belly and it looks great with no sign of damage underneath as well. I will be happy to put it up in the air for inspection if you come to visit.
What tells a better story than an instrument cluster to prove mileage as most car enthusiasts know is the car itself. Things on an E38 that are tell tale signs of low mileage are: the color of the valve covers, he seat wear, he paint, he engine with no leaks, nd how it drives - how tight is it. This car passes all of those indicators perfectly. The magnesium valve covers always change color as they age and accumulate heat cycles and you can't fake that. I have never seen valve covers on an E38 that look like these, xcept when I saw my first new one in 1998 when I was in Germany with my business partner, nd fell in love instantly with this body style.
1999 was the first year BMW offered the sport to the US market and the early ones like this one did not have the M style steering wheel or GPS. But it does have the stance/suspension of the sport and the step tropic transmission, he sport seats, nd the more aggressive power package. This one drives fantastically and is a true sport.
I will be on vacation next week but if anyone close enough to come up to the Madison WI area when I get back to see it and drive it in person, would love to show it off and would much prefer to sell it in person than to someone sight unseen.
I just found a 2001 with 45k miles that needs some front right side body work so that is my next project. My son is driving a 2000 silver sport with 65,000 miles and then we have another one, 1996iL Oxford green and beige car that my son and I completely overhauled firewall forward as a father sone project. We use that one to haul stuff around to keep our hobby alive. My son also restores antique boat motors to help pay for and put himself through college. We have had 12 old antique boat motors in the 96... Makes a great "truck" when need be.
