CLEANING OUT THE SHOP, ARAGE, ND BARN - IT'S TIME - X-1980's HD DEALER ITS A 1-2 YEAR PROJECT - 1,000's OF EARLY HD PARTS - MARK ME A FAVORITE SELLER

VINTAGE 1958 JAGUAR DROP HEAD - 1958 CORVETTE MILL/POWER - WOWZA

WAY TOOOO MANY PROJECTS - -

  • Now if this isn't a canundrum - - - but without the punch line
  • This is a project I thought I'd enjoy doing - but I'm reminded
  • - - - that at my age and with about 25 projects already in the
  • - - - hopper - Projects that I really would like to complete
  • - - - (ie: '48 HD WR, 55 HD KR, 48 Jeepster, 57 Ford/427)
  • - - - how do I justify another late arriving project - SOOOOOO

    DO SOME RESEARCH - -

  • Please look the pictures over carefully - they tell the real story
  • Please contact me with questions - Colo3038412280 - Bob
  • I do have a reserve - but - also do hope to sell this beauty
  • I have a clear Colorado title in my name - I also have some new
  • - - - parts described below - sooooo read all the way down - thx

HOW THIS PROJECT CAME ABOUT - -

  • There is lots to work with - this is a super rare find - very complete
  • Parked in a barn appx 25 yrs ago - the prior owner was planning on
  • - - - doing a fresh-en-er-up - but got side tracked with kids&life
  • A few years ago he needed room in the barn for other things so the
  • - - - Jag got pushed outside alongside the barn and covered
  • That's where I came into the picture - after some time I bought it

    ENGINE/TRANS/WHEELS - -

  • I was told the engine was from a Corvette - The engine number
  • - - - indicates 1958 230hp (not 195hp) which is considered to be
  • - - - one of the higher performance engines of that time period
  • - - - and was told the engine was running when it was put in storage
  • The carb/intake is from a 60's SBC - quadrajet I think - pretty clean
  • The transmission appears to be a 4-speed - the shifter and shift
  • - - - knob look like the early Corvette style - definitely not from
  • - - - the larger cars from '58
  • All 5 of the wire spoke rims and knockoffs look pretty good (yep -
  • - - - there is a spare in the trunk) - The driver side rear tire
  • - - - is shot but the spare holds air - If I get around to it I'll swap
  • - - - the wheels so that it will roll easier

ANSWERS TO SOME QUESTIONS - -

  • This is a true barn(ish) find - I've not cleaned a thing - no wash job
  • - - - and the engine bay is still as found (dusty/dirty/weeds/turds?)
  • The body seems quite solid - no real damage that I can detect but
  • - - - there is some rust I'll cover below under "FLAWS"
  • The chrome/stanless is all very nice - grill, umpers, nterior, ood, li>- - - trunk, ights(F&R), tc.
  • The instruments appear to be all original Jaguar
  • Do not know if milage is correct - reads ?1110 - car is covered up and
  • - - - I'm not in the mind to go out and uncover it right now - maybe later
  • The interior (although mostly green) is fairly presentable - same
  • - - - general cond as engine compartment (dusty/dirty/turds?)
  • Most of the wiring appears to be intact and good (under hood and
  • - - - under dash)
  • Tail light lenses and rear license plate lense are nice - head lights
  • - - - and front running lights also look good
  • Found some head light bug/rock guards/screens in the trunk - rusty
  • I received lots of XK150 books and literature with the car

YES - THERE ARE SOME FLAWS - -

  • The door windows/cranks/locks will need some work/replacement
  • The emergency brake sticks on - had it off for a while but when I
  • - - - pulled it on again it stuck again - most likely needs some lube
  • The final 3 pics show the worst parts to the body:
  • - - - 1) drivers side front quarter in front of the door must have had
  • - - - - - some body filler which popped off - metal looks good and
  • - - - - - staight - don't really know what was done there????
  • - - - 2) on the right front fender midway between headlight and
  • - - - - - the door and on the top of the fender in the swail there is
  • - - - - - an area about 3" X 7" which has a thin coat of body filler
  • - - - - - which has seperated from the metal
  • - - - 3) at the rear of the top (both sides) - where it mounts to the
  • - - - - - body above the trunk deck - there is some rust and ugly
  • - - - - - filler from an earlier attemp at using some type of body filler
  • - - - - - I'd guess this area needs attention prior to installing the top
  • The pics make it look pretty good - BUTTTT - my thought is that it
  • - - - will need quite a bit of work (brakes, uel, lec, tc.)

    NEW PARTS - WOW - -

  • Included in this package is a complete new leather interior kit - this
  • - - - is a very complete kit for the drop head with door panels included
  • OH - there is also a new top kit with this Jag package - WOWZA
  • These two items were pruchased some years back and have been
  • - - - kept in their original boxs and stored indoors -
  • I was told to expect some wrinkles/creases in the leather interior and
  • - - - canvas top because they have been boxed for a long time - BUTTTTT
  • - - - I was also told that by applying steam to these wrinkles/creases
  • - - - that they can be worked out - HUMMMMMMM - Hope So
