Rare Purple 1998 Jag XK8 Convertible

Barney is turning 50 (50,000 miles that is).And, itis with mixed emotions that we have decided our beloved Barney, the purple Jag, has to have a new home. We are planning our next stage of adolescence and we need to get rid of our toys. We're just a little too old for Barney.

He was born to a new owner in Texas and moved to a retired banker in the early 2000s in Wisconsin. We purchased Barney 10 years ago. He has been garaged since his first owner and has been driven less than 3,000 miles a year. He had 20,000 miles on him when we purchased and have added another 30,000 miles.We love him dearly but it's time for him to be with an owner that will drive and enjoy him for many years to come.

When we first purchased him, I was aware of early JagXK8cyl engine plastic tensioners for timing chains and the challenge some owners had with those. I had the recommended $2,300preventive maintenance done on Barney to make sure that he had metal tensioners to hold the timing chain in place and prevent any failure. He has been fine and we've had no problems with him.

His battery is brand new this spring. His tires are less than 3,000 miles old. His brakes are less than 2,000 miles old and his air conditioning is fully charged and ready to go. Everything works on Barney except for two things.

His factory mobile phone which was a big deal in 1998 comes with the car but I have never had it connected. Needless to say, a 1998 car phone is a little outdated but it's there for your showing of OEM original equipment. I don't know if it works or not but you can see the little antenna on the rear brake late on the trunk. I took it out of the car but it will come with your purchase.Also, his power antenna mast was broken by yours truly in a parking garage. The antenna motor works fine but it just needs a new mast which I will have done prior to delivery.the radio and cd player function well without the antenna up.

Barney does have two pairs of shoes. We bought him a set of Jaguar after-market wire wheels and they come with the purchase. He is currently sporting his factory chrome wheels that came as an upgrade option when he was purchased. Both sets compliment the rare Amaranth Jaguar purple that was only available on 1998 XK8s. It was meant to match the purple color that was available on the late mode Jaguar XKEs in the late 60s and early 70s. There are very few Barneys around.
