LOWEST ORIGINAL MILEAGE E TYPE JAGUAR IN EXISTENCE: 5000 Miles
1 OWNER LISTED IN LOG BOOK
Matching numbers
We are offering a complete Series 1 E Type Jaguar from 1967 with 4.2 litre engine & manual gearbox. Matching numbers. 2 seats. This is a complete original car with all parts present.
The car is right hand drive and has spent its entire life in the UK, where it has undergone full body and paint restoration to show standard.
The colour scheme is opalescent grey (gunmetal) with beige interior.
Odometer is showing only 5500 miles from new (see pictures) and we have a UK Ministry of Transport test certificate dating back to mid 1970's with approximately 2000 miles recorded at that stage.
There is only 1 owner listed on its UK government registration document since new, the original of which is in our possession.
Even the original key and fob are present.
This may possibly be the most collectable E Type ever to be offered to the market in view of its uniquely low mileage together with its history and we would prefer that it goes to a collector who will preserve this for historical reasons and possibly also show it. With this in mind, we have restored the bodywork and paintwork to show standard, in addition to which all the rear suspension and axle cage have been refurbished and upgraded, then refitted, together with several other aspects of the car that have been refurbished. Many new replacement parts have been obtained, ready to be included in its reassembly. At this stage and with the majority of work already completed to a standard that nobody would want to alter, we would like to work closely with the new owner to apply their chosen level of finish in the engine compartment and also the interior, both of which can vary hugely in the level of detail required.
The price listed is for the car once completed, MOT tested and ready to drive away. We will however entertain enquiries from parties who would wish to complete the reassembly and final detailing themselves.
THE RESTORATION
The body and paintwork restoration have been completed to show standard.
The car was in fully serviceable condition at date of acquisition and was starting first time on the button. There was not a great deal wrong with the bodywork when taking account of its age and the conditions it had been operated and been stored in. Nevertheless, we decided to undertake a complete restoration throughout in view of the unique factors it possesses, including being the world's lowest original mileage E Type.
The bodywork is now much superior to that of original factory produced Jaguars. One example of improvement is that we have added two strengthening bosses on either side of the rear axle and suspension cage, because a common fault with E Types was that they were notorious for corrosion in this area, where the suspension cage would become loose, which in turn led to handling issues. Of course it did not need such upgrade as a matter of course, as there was nothing the matter with that area of the car, but we decided even at that early stage to restore the car to a level that Jaguar would not have done and to prepare a car that would outlive any car that Jaguar ever made.
The chrome work has all been restored by the best chrome specialists in the UK.
The entire rear axle cage has been fully refurbished with replacement new parts where necessary, painted and powder coated. I don't propose to go into detail in respect of every part replaced, reconditioned or added, because those details can be provided by private email or telephone call to any serious intended party. No stone has been left unturned up to this stage.
Engine is in perfect condition, as one would expect from a unit showing only 5000 miles. We are however in the process of converting it to run on modern unleaded petrol, which would involve new stainless steel valves and valve seats. Jaguar did not envisage unleaded fuel when they made this engine and this is easy to overlook from the buyer's standpoint. There will be other minor engine updates that we will give it as a matter of course, due to the length of time it has been stood.
There are many new parts ready to go onto the car, too numerous to be of interest to any reader of an advert, but lists of which are on file for the purchaser. The unique selling points here are its history with uniquely low mileage and one owner, matching numbers, plus its being the sought after Series 1 with 4.2 litre engine, manual gearbox and being a complete original car. (Please disregard the old wheels in the pictures. They were added for transport and storage purposes only and new ones are waiting in their boxes to be added)
The car is now at the reassembly stage and we are looking to work with the new owner to achieve their desired level of finish. If the new owner wishes to complete the reassembly and interior himself, then we will entertain enquiries to reflect this. We can also assist with export of the car to anywhere in the world. We are based in the north of England. The car is right hand drive and has never been converted. We believe this example should belong in a collection.
We have kept the description detail brief on purpose. Should anybody have any serious inquiry as to work undertaken or work still to be carried out, then please reply in email and provide your name, private email address and contact telephone number. We will endeavour to respond as quickly as possible, but please bear in mind that we are in the UK and time differences should be taken account of where applicable.
Please note that photograph numbers are limited to a maximum of 24 in Ebay adverts and we have reached our limit while trying to show as many aspects of the first class restoration as possible and covering as many angles as possible. We have included as many pictures of the interior restoration as numbers will allow. You can contact us for further details.
We only want to receive serious enquiries and if you have are seriously interested, then please provide your private email address and phone number, together with your name and country of residence.
