Description |
---|
This is a magnificent car. I’ve owned and driven Jaguars over the last 30 years, and of all the cars I’ve owned, this is the pinnacle. 1996 was the last full year of production of the V12 sedan, and this car is only 1 of 196 in the world. It is a very rare car, and it is unlikely Coventry will ever again produce another twelve cylinder automobile. It should be a future collectable.
I really know Jags. I started the Virginia Jaguar Club, had been a Chief Judge in JCNA for 15 years, have been to the factory in England, and have written articles for JAGUAR WORLD magazine, so it is with great sadness that I have to let this car go, but in the spirit of honesty, there are good reasons (see below.) I am representing this car as clearly as honestly as I can, and it is offered strictly “AS-IS.”
The Good:
-No Rust
-Rebuilt Transmission
-New Transmission Hoses
-New Power Steering Pump Hoses
-New fan belts
-New thermostats
-Cold A/C
-New Radiator
-Rebuilt Front End
-New Crank Sensor
-Passes D.C. Emissions (rebuilt PCV system)
-Complete set of owner’s manuals
-Redone Headliner (see next#)
-7.5 out of 10 interior (wood overall VG, but driver seat shows wear, #headliner for sunroof need replacing)
-Complete set of owner’s manuals
-New Battery
-Strong Engine, clean engine compartment
-Four Michelin Primacy tires (20,000 miles, also comes with 6th rim)
-Mina Chrome inserts under door handles
-Chrome bar upgrade under front bumper
-Excellent Nickel Plating around doors and windows
-Gold (painted) front grill with “JAGUAR” car badge
-New Water Pump (replaced 2013) **
-New Alternator (replace 2014)*
The Bad:
-Needs respray/paint (fading, peeling clear coat in spots)
-Dent in left front wing (wife hit pole in parking garage)
-**Water pump is leaking slightly (needs to be replaced or seals checked)
-*Alternator has gone bad
-Car will not start (electrical issue, might have to do with alternator)
-Does not rev over 3,000 RPM
-Needs shocks (recommended)
-Sunroof inoperable (pinned close to shut)
-Front passenger seatbelt clip (case broken)
-Cup holder bracket cracked (will not reliably stay closed)
After over $8,000 in repairs and maintenance, and frustration with the shops I have had doing the work, the wife said “That’s It!” My loss is your gain. There is a LOT of car here for the money. It has a fairly low reserve which is more than a fair value for the car. Actually, in parts alone, this car is worth $10,000+ An important note; the paint looks a lot better in the pictures than in person, but it is a nice looking 20’ car. The one thing we might miss most about it are all the often admiring, fawning compliments we always got about it almost every day. As beautiful as the new XJ sedan is (designed by Ian Callum, see web site link below of him and I together) this design was the last of the ‘traditional Jaguar look.’
Car located in Washington D.C. It will need to be towed. I would prefer this car go to someone that loves and cares about Jaguar, and not by someone that is looking for a project or will part it out. PayPal payment preferred.
