99 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas New Trans, XJ, VDP, Jag 1999

This vehicle does not start and will probably need an engine rebuild. This would be a good project. or parts car. The timing chains. tensioners. and several valves were replaced around 66. 00 miles. After these repairs (2006). the car was driven for 7 years before the transmission failed. The transmission was replaced with a certified re-manufactured unit (summer 2014). and was only driven about 500 miles before the engine died again. Car was driving fine. and then would not start after a quick stop at the grocery store. I did not bother diagnosing the problem since this model year was notorious for problems with the cylinder liners. so there is a small chance that it is a simple fix. but don't count on it!Otherwise. the body is in pretty good shape. with only a few small dents and chips in the paint. Rear seats are almost like new. Driver seat is worn with a few tears. passenger seat is pretty good. Tires have good tread. more than 50%. Fuel pump. battery. and spark plugs were all replaced at the time of the transmission. all together. approximately $4. 00 was put into the car last summer when I had the trans installed.
