DRY ARIZONA BUS PROJECT
Years ago I fell in love with a cool bus I saw on the internet. (Who ever owns this bus.... YOUR BUS IS AWESOME!) Included in my pictures is an image of that cool bus. It is a super classy "Tiki" style convertible bus. About 10 months ago this "roof delete" bus project popped up on Craigslist. Like many good projects, his project came to a halt and then offered for sale. It turns out the bus was super, uper straight, ad a solid body, had a new engine, O accidents ever (except for with the Sawsall), nd a clear Arizona title. I bought the bus to build my own "Tiki Bus", ut am now offering it for sale because other projects need cash.
ABOUT THE BUS
Before I primed the areas on the body, lightly sanded off years of heavy oxidation. There I found theoriginalVelvet Greenpaintthe same paint within the doors and behind the rear valance. (See pics) Also there is NO body filler to be found anywhere on this bus. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. Whoever did the metal fabrication ie; roof surgery, nstalled new front floor pan and the passenger side rocker panel did a nice job. There are tiny dings here and there, and obvious body finishing at the metalwork), ut there is rust hole behind the barn doors at the rocker panel . (See pic)
Again I have to mention how straight, olid and original this bus shell is. This bus is in remarkable condition for a 51 year old vehicle. The rear corners are untouched original, ven the battery area is great. The front end is super straight (I had to sand through primer to verify). The doors are beautiful top and bottom, nd the sides are great as well. Crawling around below looking at the floor and all the inner panels tells the same story. Many of the pictures I've taken of the floor are before primer was applied. Please see my photo gallery.
Due to rust, urchasing an classic car project is scary, ven a restored classic is unnerving. Buying a dry classic puts you way ahead in time and money.
MECHANICAL
The previous owner stated that the 1500 cc engine was new with zero miles on it. I have no way of verifying this, ut the engine appears to be new or a recent install with many new parts. The oil looks clear and the heads look brand new under the valve covers (see pics), nd no oil build up anywhere. I recently fired the engine up and it sounded great with no ill noises. He also stated the he spent nearly $15,000 thus far on suspension, echanical and body fabrication. There are also new steering components, disc brake front end, nd an adjustable rear suspension setup. I do not know the status of the transmission, ut could guess it has been checked out. It also looks refurbished. The brakes are not holding pressure, nd will need attention.
I have 100+ detailed pictures of the bus on my Photobucket, s well as a YouTube video of the bus running. eBay no longer allows the use of hyperlinks in the listing, o if you are truly interested in the bus contact me for the link addresses to those pics and video. Thanks
Note: I do not have the seats, umpers, auges, r the old roof. I do have the clear Arizona title along with the matching roof console VIN tag.
If it does not sell here on eBay, intend on installing a cool canvas top or build my own "Tiki tour bus". I may also build a mobile bar or food concession out of it? I may just "bag it" and build a cool cruiser??
If the bus does sell, may consider building it to the new owners specs."Google VW bus convertible and Tiki VW for some great ideas"
