This is a piece of USSR history readily available in the US.GAZ-21 Volga, a Russian sedan from the Communist era. (GAZ roughly translates as Gorky Automobile Factory). In those days, if you owned a Volga or you were assigned one because of your job or political status, it was proof you'd made it in Soviet society. Everybody wanted one. After his space trip, Gagarin (first man in orbit) was rewarded with a brand-new Volga.Limited number of cars went on for the export to the socialist inclined countries, and those cars were especially rare to acquire in Soviet Union. This car is 1965 export variant. It was restored back in Russia to its original condition. The car only has 10,000 kilometers on the newly rebuild engine. All of its parts have been dissembled, looked at and replaced whatever needed to be replaced and then re-assembled. Its like new in perfect working condition. I brought it to US a year ago and put 5,000 miles in one year.
