This car WILL BE SOLD as I have a new project in the works and do not have room to keep this car. Take your best shot and you might own this car got way less then it is worth? Go for it!Professionally built 32 Ford Roadster built for and by Bob Anderson and friends at California Street Rods shop. Bob decided to build this last car for himself before he retired from California Street Rods. He was a long time employee and with the help from owner Chuck Lombardo, Lil' John Buttera and Boyd Cottington, this is that car. Bob told me he had over $ 80,000.00 in the car with no labors costs thanks to his own talents and from the help of these very talented friends.
This started out with new American Stamping frame rails set up in the chassis jig. With each of his friends and with his knowledge, all cross members were placed in strategic locations for strength and function. The frame was them powder coated a Porsche Purple color which matches the body.2. The suspension on this car is not the usual elliptical spring over axle, but instead a 5" dropped axle with coil over shocks were used which offers a much nicer, cleaner and are adjustable for the ride desired. The rear end is a Curries, slightly shortened and again, coil over shocks and a rear stabilizer system was used and again, adjustable for ride desited. ( check the pics )
3. This car offers 4 wheel disc brakes by Strange Engineering with power booster and all brakes lines are stainless steel.
4. A Wescot Body was used with hidden hinges and door handles, All doors were fit for proper spacing along with the rumble seat or trunk panel. Everything fits excellent and closes very tight. The hood is a custom built piece of aluminum done by Marcel's Metal Works. The body is painted a Porsche Purple and Dennis Rickless has done a very small and unique pin stripe. The windshield was created by Lil' John Buttera utilizing billet aluminum for the windshield posts and all one piece mirrors. (mirrors are a true work of art).
5. Hotronics is the electrical systems used and offers a keyed start switch under the dash. A pull switch for the headlights with both low and high beam. The turn signals are built within the headlights and the tail lights offer the same under the back of the car which look super and show very well. The dash has VDO gauges with back lights, door opening lights, radio, power antenna, safety disconnect switch and more.
6. The custom interior waa done by Ron Mangus and is excellent with grey custom panels with blue trim for the doors panels, kick panels, under dash panels and side panels in the rumble seat area. The seats are a grey tweed with blue leather inserts. Carpet is grey with matching floor mats.
7. A tilt steering column as used with a custom steering wheel and the turn signals are on the column with shift indicator. Too many roadsters have the shifter on the floor which is a mistake due to these cars are fairly small and the floor shift takes up too much room. By this being on the column, the floor is open and looks cleaner as well.
8. Engine is a small block Chevy stroked to 383 cubic inch which is actually more than needed, but also makes it fun to drive. The motor was built by Ultimate Engineering with all high quality parts and is a 9.5 compression engine. The engine has custom built aluminum valve covers and air cleaner by Lil' John Buttera, polished intake, chrome alternator, a complete stainless exhaust system built by Mike Ham. The transmission is a turbo built by Art Car Racing Transmission.
9. Boyd Cottington built the custom wheels for Bob on this car. As you can see, much larger wheels in back with smaller wheels up front.
10. The car comes with a clean 1932 Ford title, not a street rod or rebuilt title so registration in any state should be easy to complete.
As you can see, no corners were cut. The gathering of talent who helped offer suggestions, engineer, provided hands on help or offered assistance in any other way can not be matched. On a personal note, I am 68 years old, have been around street rods, drag racing, member of a top fuel dragster and funny car team, so I have a ton of experience and without question, this is as nicely built car as you will find. I can not even imagine what it would cost with purchasing the parts at retail price and then have a top professional street rod shop build this car. And the best part, you do not have to be concerned about driving this car anywhere. The real reason other than I am building another car is I am a very large person and really too big for this car. Although I know I can never replace this car, I am somewhat uncomfortable in it due to me size (over 300#), so this is why I have started a different project.
This is as nice of car as you will find and it was built to drive or show. It sits nice and gets tons of looks sitting still, while going down the road or at a show. It is a very fun car to drive and very stable and anyone could drive it anywhere with no concerns..SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET A GREAT DEAL? I can not stress this point enough,so take your best shot and you might own this very nice street roadster.DEALERS- here is your chance to make some big bucks. IT WILL BE SOLD.Asking way less than what it is worth, so who knows what it might go for? Don;t be shy, but don't be stupid either. Again I will stress, it will be sold for way, way less than it is worth. You look this car over in the pictures and take your time and review what this car has and what it offers in the way it was built and when reality sets in, you will then see how great this roadster is and what is should really be worth? If you have any other questions, please email me or call me at 641-423-3394 home or cell at 641-530-3906. Thank you.
