Description

Relisted because it didn't quite reach my reserve price... I will assume that's because the auction ended while everyone was on their drive home from work yesterday... I know this machine is worth every bit of $4000, eing rust free and with a practically new engine and tires. This time I will offer to deliver up to 200 miles, nd may consider going even further depending on your location... so just ask. Thanks for bidding! Starting up where we left off last time..._______________________________________________________________________________
Up for auction is my 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I purchased this in 2012 and it has spend most of the last year sitting in the driveway so I think it is time to pass it on to the next owner who will give it the love and affection it deserves. I'll describe it to the best of my ability. If you have questions or need more pictures, lease feel free to ask.
It is completely rust-free. I went down to Albuquerque NM to buy it, nd it had spent it's entire life in the desert southwest. NO RUST!
The engine is a recently re-manufactured crate engine. Currently it has right at 17,000 miles on it. If I remember right, t came from S and J Engines near Spokane, A. (I seem to have lost the paperwork that came with the engine, ut I have a record of when it was installed and the first few oil changes, tc.) There are no major leaks, o smoking, nd no oil consumption. I've been running Mobil 1 synthetic in it. I can't guarantee there are no places "seeping" fluid, ut nothing major... no puddles in the driveway. At the same time that I replaced the engine I also installed an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, eadman Headers, ew dual Flowmaster exhaust, ew radiator, ew fuel pump, ew distributor, ew spark plugs and wires, ew alternator, nd possibly a couple other things that I can't think of right now. The carburetor is a 4 barrel Edelbrock 650cfm model. I re-jetted it when I brought it home from the high altitude in Albuquerque, ut otherwise, ot new but no problems either.
It is a VERY strong running engine, ounds great, nd has lots of power. I can provide videos if I can find a way to upload them or compress and email them. I had this out one time 4 wheeling with some other little Jeeps and everyone was blown away by how much of a BEAST this Wagoneer is. (Note: that was the only time I've had it off road in the 4 years I've owned it.)
The transmission is an manual AX-15 that I swapped in out of an XJ Cherokee. I had the clutch professionally installed with a Novak throw-out bearing. It has the XJ center console installed which actually fits really well. When I did the transmission swap I took out the factory emergency brake to make room for the clutch pedal. The jeep currently does not have an emergency brake, ut could hook up the cables to the XJ handle in the center console.... I just never got around to it. I wrote up a very detailed tutorial on the transmission swap and clutch pedal installation I'd be happy to share so you can be comfortable that it was well-done. It also has the transfer case from the XJ and the manual shift handle and I removed the vacuum shift motor original to the Wagoneer.
The axles as far as I know are original to the Wagoneer. They are geared 3.31-1 which was installed on the Wagoneers that had the tow package, hich this Jeep has.
I was told by the previous owner that the jeep has a 4 inch lift (Superlift I think is what he told me). I installed a set of new 33x10.5x15 BFG All Terrain Tires. When I did that, trimmed the rear fenders slightly to give them a little more clearance. I'm guessing, he tires have around 5-7,000 miles on them. In the pictures, ou'll notice the left rear wheel is missing the center cap. I have that and it will go with the Jeep.
I installed a set of VERY heavy duty shop fabricated tube steps that also serve as rocker protectors. They are bolted directly to the frame.
There is a dent in the hood from a tree branch falling on it during a storm. That tree branch also broke the left fog light. The fog light switch and right fog light work. Both bumpers are missing nerf. The rear bumper is slightly bent up so it makes the tail gate hard to open all the way (easy fix, ust didn't do it yet.) I always wanted to put fabricated bumpers on it front and back but never convinced the wife to spend the money. There is also a small dent in the back right door (shown in the pictures). Other than that, he body is very straight.
Both power seats work. The windows all go up and down. The back window in the tailgate works well. All the others will require "manual assist". The power locks also work, ut will require "manual assist". The jeep still has the factory A.C., ut it leaks Freon and doesn't cool. the heater works well. The front doors have all new weather stripping and window seals, tc. I have the weather stripping parts for the back doors that will go with the jeep (about $300 worth). I also have the luggage rack that will go with the Jeep. The front seats are in pretty poor shape as shown in the pictures. The back seat is in good shape. The carpet and headliner are both in good condition. I build some handy storage compartments in the back cargo area you can see in the pics (there is also a hidden compartment that can't be seen in the pics where valuables could be hidden and locked up. I fixed the cruise control when I first got it, ut it has since stopped working. I think there is a short in the turn signal handle.... that was the problem before. The horn does not work. The filler neck leaks when filling up with gas... might just need the hose clamp tightened up. Turn signals and lights all work.
I think that about sums it up. I have nothing to hide with this Jeep and will be happy to provide anyone with more info. This would make a great candidate for a major restoration, xtreme off road, r just a daily driver just the way it is. Thanks for looking!
