For your consideration is my clean Speed Yellow 2000 Porsche Boxster S roadster - the car that breathed life back into the Porsche brand!

Wearing just over 74,000 miles, his car has been my weekend runabout. I have two original factory keys with keyless entry, riginal books and manuals, nd some service records from my ownership and prior. I purchased the car from a local dealer where it had been traded-in on a 2010 Boxster S, ut it turned out the previous owner was a member of multiple enthusiast forums and gave me the download on his ownership of the car back to 20,000 miles. It’s been an absolute joy to own, ut as with many car enthusiasts my short attention-span has me looking at other opportunities to fill the garage space that this car is presently occupying…

Condition-wise, n the inside the car is very clean. It was ordered with the full black leather upholstery, long with yellow stitching and yellow seat belts. Likewise, he body-colored interior trim including console, auge surround, nd roll bar hoops were also factory-ordered, s opposed to aftermarket add-ons as can be learned from the underhood sticker or the detailed factory build sheet report which I can forward to interested parties. There are no rips or tears in the upholstery or the top, ut there is some wear commensurate with conservative use. I recently replaced the door pocket covers with new factory items because they were looking a little worse for wear. The embroidered floormats are quality Lloyds items.

The car has the factory Becker CDR-220 Stereo with the dynamic sound unit, long with the rear shelf speaker package. The whole setup works just fine. It also has heated seats, ower windows, nd remote door and trunk release. For those cold days where you still want the top down, here is a factory glass windstop between the roll hoops. The power top functions flawlessly and the rear window in clear.

Outside, he car is remarkably clean save for a few small rock chips. I have not seen any sign of rust anywhere on the car. The Speed Yellow paint carries a sparkling shine, nd the doors shut with the appropriate thunk. All of the lenses are in good, lear condition, nd the car has the optional Litronic high-intensity discharge factor headlights.. The wheels factory 18" turbo twists and at some point could probably do with a refinish, ut they are perfectly serviceable as they sit and they balance-up beautifully.

The motor starts easily and settles to a very smooth idle. The steering functions properly, nd the 6-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch takes-up nicely. There are no odd noises or whines from the driveline. The brakes are in good condition and do not pull. The car pulls like a freight train and achieves super-legal speeds in the blink of an eye. There is a Porsche Sport exhaust on the car which can still be purchased new from Porsche for a mere $3,200. Other options include Porsche Stability Management (PSM), 26 Sports Touring Package, ntermittent wipers, ruise control, nd trip computer.

The car has clearly been well-maintained throughout its life, nd I have carried-on the tradition. Since it has not been done to my knowledge,I had always considered that the IMS bearing would be something I'd have done when it was time for the clutch to be replaced, nd both the previous owner and I have religiously cut open the oil filter at oil change to inspect for ferrous metallic fragments, f which there never have been any. According to everything I can find, his car's motor (67Y09816) should be a dual-row bearing, nd thus one with the far lower fail rate, ost of which also failed with much lower mileage. The car also has the L&N engineering "Spin On" oil filter adapter which blocks the factory oil bypass that could potentially allow unfiltered oil to circulate through the engine - LN Engineering recommends Napa Gold 1042 or Platinum 1042 along with Joe Gibbs DT40 oil filters for the spin-on filter adapter. I also installed a magnetic oil drain plug. These combined as insurance to monitor this known Boxster problem area...

Around 30K miles all the recommended service was done to include plugs, erpentine belt, rake fluid flush, uel filter replaced, tc. One of the CV boots was torn so both sides were replaced. The front engine mount which was torn was also replaced.The stock 986 Boxster S came with a crappy shift mechanism that made finding 3rd gear nebulous so it was upgraded by the previous owner to the shifter for a base model 997 which is much nicer. As a result it shifts nicely and much more precisely than before.

In 2013, he check engine light came on and the codes indicated an O2 Sensor problem so all four sensors were replaced (Bosch) along with a new Mass Air Flow Sensor. Most of the 60K mile service was done around the same time except for the spark plugs and serpentine belt. The oil has been changed every 5K miles, he brake fluid was flushed at the same time brake pads, otors and sensors were done at about 65,000 miles. Also, he tires are brand new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and mounted up about about 2,000 miles ago.

In November, 014, t about 73,500 miles, he oil and filter were changed and the brake booster was replaced by Intersport in Tysons Corner, A. In December, 015, he air/oil separator and serpentine belt were replaced, long with the spark plugs, park plug tubes, nd coils. Beyond those items, he gear oil and coolant were flushed and replaced. The service technicians noted no metal in the oil filter nor on the magnetic drain plug, ut commented that the CV joint boots are just starting to crack. All of this work was performed by Taylor Chapman Motorsports in Dulles, A.
