2002 Land Rover Discovery II SD - Serviced, LOW Miles, Super Clean, NO RESERVE!

I'm thrilled to offer for a sale this BEAUTIFUL color combination, OW MILE 2002 Discovery SD! It has been very well cared for and drives like a dream and looks absolutely stunning in Chawton White over Bahama Beige! Let's dive right in!
Background:
Let me begin with a little background. This gorgeous Rover was ordered to be a simple, ugged and lightly optioned SD model which offered the standard 4.0L engine with full-time 4WD and was adorned with wonderful extras on top of the standard luxury. This SD trim Discovery features dual zone climate control, ower windows, ower locks, ower mirrors, way drivers and 6 way passenger power seats, uto dimming mirror, ompass and more. While the SD was a more basic option package, t allowed Rover to stay true to its roots with a truck which was comfortable, uxurious and capable while ready for any adventure on or off-road! The sunroof delete allowed for more simplicity and lighter weight (no leaks or complex electronics!). The Duragrain seating was much easier to care for than the premium surfaces, ore durable and looks fantastic! The smaller wheels allowed for larger sidewall tires which were much more capable off-road and were softer on road. And a few smaller electronics were omitted which made for a more durable truck as a whole. The SD D2 is one of the last real Rovers in my humble opinion and one of my favorites to drive and own. This SD came out of the factory in a beautiful color combination: Chawton White over Bahama Beige. It is truly in a BEAUTIFUL and CLASSIC color package.
This arctic colored beauty though has spent its entire life in sunny, ry, emperate California since and is rust free!!!! It was majority serviced by Land Rover of Ventura as well as very respected independent Rover shops here in SoCal and even while being driven very little, ept in dry storage, tarted often and serviced with dedication and care.
It was embraced by Rover employees so much so it was first used a demo car for the first 2,000 miles of its life. The first real owner then owned the car until 37k miles in 2010. (Note Carfax will show another owner at 4k miles, ut that was a title change, ot an owner change). Ownership from 2010 until today has only added 17k more miles! Needless to say this beauty has been very well care for and led a loved and appreciated life!
It is SUCH a treat to drive such a low mile Discovery. They are tight and rattle free and feel like what they felt like out of the factory. It really changes the experience of Rover ownership drastically and this one is no exception!
It keeps getting better! Let's continue to the service!
The Condition and Service:
This truck has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained and serviced and is a high standard for Rover service!

Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:
This engine has LOW miles for the year (a LOW average of about 3,800 a year), 4,000 miles appear on the odometer. Boy, h boy, s it rare and great to see a Rover with such low miles! It was driven and enjoyed as it should be, ut being owned by someone who wanted to enjoy it for decades, t was showed more than generous preemptive care. There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep the engine in near brand new condition. The motor is very healthy and has loads of smooth power! And a happy Rover will go and go and go happily for hundreds of thousands of miles. And this happy Rover has received LOADS of preventative maintenance to make sure of that. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. NO 3 AMIGOS LIGHTS. NO ABS LIGHTS!
-HEAD GASKETS
As part of the preventive service schedule, his truck received BRAND NEW OEM head gaskets and OEM head bolts. This service was done within the past 500 miles as part of this truck's ongoing preventative care. THIS is the maintenance you want to see on a Rover! The truck runs COOL as can be and has never overheated. The cylinder heads were cleaned, ecked and pressure checked! BRAND NEW valve cover gaskets, alley pan gaskets and seals, ront cover gasket, il pan gasket, xhaust manifold gaskets and upper intake gaskets, ll resealed among a few other minor seals. These were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care. The upper and lower intakes, alve covers and front cover were thoroughly cleaned. Take a nice look at the engine bay, lean throughout, o sagging insulation on the hood and all appears as it should from the factory - no half-effort repairs!
-RADIATOR
Radiator flows fantastic and keeps this beauty nice and cool. The temp needle NEVER moves past 3 o'clock even with the AC on and in traffic. The proper OAT coolant is used and brand new!
-WATER PUMP
As part of the overall service a BRAND NEW water pump was installed as well! Ready for the owner to go LOADS of care free miles.
-IGNITION
BRAND NEW Champion coppers (the RIGHT plugs) and high quality spark plug wires.
-BATTERY
BRAND NEW Interstate battery!! Cranks hard and fast everytime!
-BELT
BRAND NEW Gates serpentine belt!
-AIR FILTER
Newer air filter!
-EMERGENCY BRAKE
Recently adjusted and tight, nly a couple notches on the handle holds the truck tight
-TRANSMISSION
The trans was just given all new fluid and shifts great!
-DIFFERENTIALS
New gear oil in the diffs! NO clunks going into gear. Please re-read that Rover fans. When was the last time you drove a Rover that didn't clunk/clank/thud into gear???
Lets move to the suspension and brakes:
-BRAKES
Newer brakes pads in the front and rear, he truck brakes great. No ABS lights! No 3 Amigos lights. No traction control lights or issues!
-STEERING
Super tight steering rack with no slop or play!
-SHOCKS
Nice feeling OEM shocks. They are soft on bumps and tight in corners. The trucks handles wonderfully!
-4WD SYSTEM
4WD Low and High both work great! New Transfer Case oil!
Let's continue to the exterior:
-PAINT
The paint is quite nice! It is a 9- out of 10. Shiny, eautiful Chawton White paint was recently polished, inished and waxed by a highly acclaimed detailer here in LA. It looks GORGEOUS It has lived its entire life in sunny, ry, outhern California! NO ACCIDENTS! CLEAN CARFAX. NO STORIES. The white paint is deep and has a wonderful luster! No roof fade or chipping! No hood fade or chipping! The truck looks much better than most 50k mile cars let alone a rugged truck, et alone a 14-15 year old truck! There is a small, ot very deep scratch a few inches long on the hood (pictured below). And a very slight, ear impossible to see ding in the passenger door. I could not capture it in pics no matter what angle I tried. There are a couple small little chips in next to the cargo door, ictured below. The flares have a little very typical Rover sun fade/texture too, ut clean up nicely. Remember this is a near 14-15 year old truck, here may be some minor scratches, ear not discussed in detail etc, ut they are well below any expectation level for Discovery or cars of this year. Even against more modern cars the paint will compete head to head - it really is beautiful. This is a dry SoCal truck! That means no rust lurking under the surface ready to pop up and ruin your paint! If there was a place to buy ANY Rover, t is dry, arm SoCal. No rain and no road salt! Check out the clean inner doors and jambs!
-TIRES
Loads of tread life left on the tires! Fronts and rears have 65-75% tread left and are nice condition.
-WHEELS
The 16" wheels look wonderful on the Rover! They were just recently cleaned and look great. There are minor flaws at best, ut because of the overall shine and shape, ot very noticeable.
-BUMPERS, ALANCES and PLASTICS
The bumpers are in wonderful shape and free of the typical sun fade that is so common in them. No big, roken pieces as found on so many other Rovers! Check out the up close pics! No scuffs, o cracks, o rubs, o issues! They, long with the other plastic or rubberized plastic trim, hines beautifully! These little bits of trim quality and integrity drastically increase the look and beauty of a Disco! Please note the front bumper tow hook cover is missing in the pictures, ut included and in wonderful shape.
-GLASS/MIRRORS
Not to let a pebble defeat this truck, he windshield is in great shape! Beautifully clear glass makes a world of difference. It makes the truck feel brand new! The door glass is wonderful shape! Check out the mirror shots - no scuffs, ubs, aint etc so typical in trucks over time!
-TRAILER HITCH
The Rover has a factory trailer hitch and plug ready!
-ROOF RACK
This beauty includes a Thule roof rack ready for surfboards, nowboards, trip to Home Depot or more! It is removable with key included.
-UNDERCARRIAGE
Nice undercarriage! No rust, ot or trail scars, nly some light oxidation associated with any underside on axles housings, prings etc.
Onto the cabin:
-SEATS
The Bahama Beige Duragrain seats are in stunning shape! The material is SO soft and comfortable. I truly love driving this truck. You sit high and comfortably in these soft seats! The Duragrain has been VERY well cared for and shows only VERY minor flaws at best. I hate to say that without including specifics, ut truly they are that small. The interior has been recently cleaned and conditioned as well and is overall is VERY nice shape! Rear seats are in near perfect shape and appear to only have minor use at best. No big wrinkles, o material worn through, o big frays, o slices, r issues. Just gorgeous seats! even when I get in the truck, kind of raise myself up a little with the steering wheel as so that I sit down into the seat instead of sliding across it. I would hate to disturb how pretty they are!
-DOOR PANELS
Check out the top of the drivers side door panel. Go ahead I will wait, t's down below. What did you see? NO matted dirt and stains! Nearly every door panel on a D2 has matted and dirty tops on them from arms being rested there for many miles. Not here! The door panels are in wonderful shape throughout!
-HEADLINER
BRAND NEW headliner looks fantastic! No sagging or flawed Rover glue to deal with anymore. What's more, heck out the map nets on the headliner. Again, o ahead, 'm not going anywhere. NO STRETCHED, AGGED NETS!! Holy Rovers, ave you ever seen nets that aren't hanging down like they are made of syrup? Really a simple, ut huge aesthetic treat you will only find in a very low mile truck.
-CARPET
Beautiful carpet in the truck! It has been shampooed and cleaned as part of the overall detail. Check the carpet on the passenger side as it comes up the transmission tunnel - no stains from a leaking heater core! A full set of black original Rover dealer floormats are in wonderful shape.
-POWER SEATS
All power seat functions work perfect! Hard to find in a Disco!
-POWER WINDOWS
All windows work smooth and quickly! Another hard to find in a Disco!
-KEYLESS ENTRY
The keyless entry system is functional!!! Power locks is a treat in a Rover!
-RADIO
The OEM radio works great and sounds good! No blown speakers or issues!
-AC/HEAT
AC is arctic cold and heat is earth core hot!
-POWER MIRRORS
Power mirrors work perfectly!
-CENTER REAR VIEW MIRROR
The self dimming ink has not popped and bled in the mirror like 95% of other Disco's. A true rarity!!!
-STEERING WHEEL
The leather is very nice, o tears or issues or major issues, ery minor wear only! It has been conditioned and feels great in your hands! It is a real rarity to find these wheels in good shape!
-CONSOLE
BRAND NEW leather emergency brake boot! Check out how clean the cubby lid is! Shifter is in nice shape, o wear on window switches, upholders in great shape, very nice console indeed!
-CARGO AREA
Rear carpet is fantastic with only minor discoloration here and there from light use.
The Experience
There is no Discovery ownership like owning a very low mile Disco. It is just a much different experience then any other. There is a tightness, cleanliness, nd sense of what this truck was like when brand new. The clunks, attles and normal wear for any higher mile car is gone. Let alone, emember every component only has that many few miles on it. Combined with loads of preventative and scheduled maintenance it really does not get any better for a Discovery or any car for that matter. Driving this Discovery is fantastic. It pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce. It has all the power it had from the factory an then some, nd from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. An off road guy? Though this truck has never been offroaded, ne trip in a Disco in the dirt will have you hooked on the famed capabilities!
I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and beautiful Land Rover. There are other Discovery, ut if you do find one for sale and it has more methodical service, urge you to buy it! Remember, overs take a little extra care and feeding, o a Rover with 54k miles with questionable, nknown or poor service history is worth about as much as a Slurpee if you add up all the service that will need to be done to make it a reliable, eautiful, olid truck again. Don't spend big money on a truck from a "turn-em-and-burn-em" style dealer when all they do to promote the truck is say a few things they think people like to hear. As you may tell from my ad, know the care that these trucks need and the details that make them tier 1, rom a tier 2 or worse and I hope to have addressed them to those of you that know as well. If an ad says "Low miles and well cared for" Ask questions! If you don't get thorough, ell addressed answers, tart planning more money and more aspirin. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! If you were to add up all of the recent items in this truck, ou would find well over $8k in recent retail scheduled and preventive service and restoration alone. This truck is ready to go live another 150k+++ miles of beautiful, eliable, njoyed life in your hands. Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend multiple times as much to get it to this level of service!
