Car Background
Detroit Speed, nc. of Mooresville, orth Carolina, nd American Auto Wire of Bellmawr, ew Jersey, re industry leaders in the business of supplying their respective wares to the Resto Modding hobby, o when they joined forces to build this 1969 Camaro, here was no doubt that the outcome would be spectacular. Specifically, he car was a custom build executed by Detroit Speed for American Auto Wire president Michael Manning. The car’s outstanding body and paint were the work of Detroit Speed’s multitalented Michael Neighbors, ho flush-mounted the bumpers and rear spoiler, nstalled a Detroit Speed roll cage and custom imitation hood louvers and laid down the sharp late-model Chrysler Metallic Titanium paint. Detroit Speed mini-tubs were installed to accommodate the anodized 18-inch Fisk Profil 13 alloy wheels and BF Goodrich DKW tires, nd the underpinnings comprise tubular front A-arms, uadralink rear suspension, win tube coilover shock absorbers at all four corners and 4-wheel disc brakes with 14-inch rotors. Chevrolet’s all-aluminum LS7 dry sump engine packs 427 cubic inches and 505 HP, ranking out through a Tremec T-56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission to a 3.70:1 True-Trac Positraction third member. Like the rest of this fine machine, he concept and execution in the engine room and undercarriage is simply brilliant. Chuck Hannah of Hot Rod Interiors in Mooresville contributed his talents, odifying the Camaro’s dash and installing Vintage Air, eather Recaro seats, uto Meter Phantom gauges, n Alpine/JL Audio sound and brushed billet electric door handles. The quality of workmanship and unbounded creativity poured into this 1969 Camaro put it at the leading edge of the Resto Mod genre, n incredible performer with looks and attitude to match.
