Description

Designed to showcase the capability of Discovery II. Land Rover built a limited number (200) of Discovery's modeled after the vehicles used at the Land Rover G4 Challenge event. circa 2003 Off-road capability is at the core of the Land Rover G4 Edition Discovery. The combination of a 4. 6 liter. 217hp V8 engine. five-speed automatic transmission. two-speed transfer case with locking center differential. four-wheel electronic traction control (ETC). and Self-Leveling Suspension (SLS) give the Discovery G4 Edition it's greatest off-road capability ever. “With this vehicle. we will capture the excitement of the event in a limited edition. said Greg Gilliland. Discovery model manager. "The G4 Edition Discovery is a vehicle designed specifically with the off-road enthusiast in mind and its capabilities are being showcased throughout the G4 Challenge. “ That said. and in keeping with that philosophy. this G4 has been outfitted with the following upgrades: ARB Deluxe front winch bumper w/OE fog lights Old Man Emu shocks and steering damper 2” Big Blue suspension lift w/ RTE rear SLS spacers Safety Devices rock rails Sway bar disconnects Mantec snorkel Great Basin Rover front drive shaft Hella Rallye 4000 Euro Beam driving lights w/ position lamps Wolverine oil pan heater Other equipment includes: G4 specific graphics G4 specific seating surfaces Rear light guards Rear hydraulic step (4) Yokohama Geolander A/T-S 255/70R16 w/less than 10K miles Unique 6th passenger seating (single rear jump seat w/ left side storage bin) Land Rover tow package w/wiring (3) New OEM wiper blades New Surco rear ladder New Rovers North spare tire cover New hood blackout graphic New replacement side stripe graphics Replacement drivers door actuator Newer Diehard Platinum battery Newer brake pads and rotors …as well as the standard equipment. including but not limited to: Dual zone air conditioning (ice cold). power steering. cruise control. remote key-less entry/alarm. power windows. power dual sunroofs w/ shades. cruise control. Pioneer stereo w/ CD. electronic hill decent control. manual locking center differential. 4 wheel ABS. traction control. digital clock. tachometer. alloy wheels. water sensitive intermittent front wipers. heated windshield. headlight washers. privacy glass. rear wiper/washer. rear defogger. power/heated exterior mirrors. dual front airbags. nbsp; self leveling suspension. power front seats w/heaters (hot). roof rails etc. Most importantly. this G4 has received the mechanical attention so befitting a classic/collectible Land Rover. and most deserving of this model. Though quite expensive (see receipts) this measure should insure many years of trouble free motoring. both on and off road. and well into the future. With an eye toward long term reliability/longevity. the motor on this truck was meticulously disassembled and rebuilt in August of 2013 by Ted’s Machine Shop in Honolulu. HI. with parts supplied by D&D Fabrications in Almont. MI. This included their up-rated sleeves. complete cylinder head work. Stage II performance cam kit. motor mounts. timing chain. belts. fuel pump. water pump. nbsp; etc… This is in addition to the new engine front cover (incl. oil pump) that was installed in Oct 2011 (receipt available). As such. nbsp; the truck is now ready for the long haul. The following article provides a good perspective as to the proactive nature of this engine build: robisonservice. blogspot. com/2013/10/should-you-rebuild-or-replace-your-land. html Additionally. the truck is equipped with a Magnaflow 2 ½” stainless steel exhaust system. including cats. which provides a nice. if not somewhat authoritative. exhaust note. Complimenting the mechanical effort is a G4 that is absolutely rust free from top to bottom. appears to have never been on salt treated roads. and with all equipment working 100%. The following is a list of minor issues that may or may not warrant your attention in the future: . the obligatory vertical crack in the exterior cowling trim. below the windshield. is present. but does not effect function. . there is a small 1” crack on the horizontal surface of the center console trim just below the radio unit. but barely noticeable. . there is a small area of wear on the driver’s side seat bottom cushion. about 1” x 2” . the headliner is getting “puffy” on a few of the more complex contours. but still overall quite presentable . there are misc. chips and scrapes in the exterior clear coat from normal use. and just one notable ding in the drivers door. mid flank. . the interior is extremely clean but does have some light scuffs here and there from regular use. . when I removed the original decals on the drivers side of the truck. I noted some delamination of the underlying clear coat. possibly due to the adhesive. but again covered by the replacement graphics. the plastic fender flares are starting to show signs of fading along the upper surfaces. . I recently repaired a couple of roof dings that were bothering me. two located on the forward roof section of the truck. as well as one on the driver’s side rear near the safari window. I used the correct primer. paint. and clear coat in the process. Not award winning. but turned out quite nice. Please feel free to contact me with any requests for additional photos and or descriptive. Additionally. the truck is not posted for sale anywhere else but here. so to those of you with the tendency. please try to refrain from asking the reserve price. as it kind of kills the whole purpose of having an auction format listing. Thanks !
