1956 was a breakthrough year for Ford's Lincoln-Mercury Division. To compete with other luxury brands. Lincolns were made 7" longer. 3" wider. more luxurious and more powerful than the 1955 models. Presented here is an award winning. 1956 Lincoln Premier Convertible. A complete body-off restoration back to factory specifications was finished in 2003. Since that time the car has been gently driven with 452 miles on the odometer. All chrome and stainless steel was professionally re-done. The chassis was completly stripped and powder coated along with the majority of the suspension parts. The engine. transmission. brakes. front suspension and differential were overhauled and new 8-leaf rear springs installed. The exterior was professionally painted with Taos Turquoise lacquer. Interior restoration treatments included new Taos Turquoise and white leather seats. vinyl door panels and matching cut loop carpeting. The black convertible top is Haartz cloth canvas. Trunk compartment has new floor and side panels. All of the convertible top operating links are re-chromed and re-installed. A new top motor was installed with new cylinders and hoses. Unique optional equipment on this car is an auto-lubrication system. factory spot lights and bumper fog lights. This car was first shown at the 2003 Lincoln Continental Owners Club North Texas meet where it won first place. During the next six years this car was awarded Best In Show or first place in a number of regional events. In 2009 this car won the the prestegious Elliston Bell Founders Trophy as the most outstanding Senior Lincoln at the LCOC Mid-Western National event. It has graced the cover of the Club's monthly magazine as seen in the last photo in the shots below.
