Up for Auction is a 1985 Lincoln Town Car. This Vehicle has not operated or been started in approximately 25 years. It was garage kept for the first 20 or so years of it's time then moved outside the garage and has been outside in the driveway for the past few years.
Going back 20 + years; the car operated fine. There were no significant problems with the Engine, Interior or Exterior of the Car. The car was driven daily and used without problem back at that time. The car was kept in the garage unused for approximately 20 years. After that the car was moved outside the garage into the driveway where it has sat for approximately 3-4 years. The Bad: The weather has started to take it's toll in the car and you can see from the pictures some of the repairs that will be needed. The car needs a through cleaning and good washing. This has not been done correctly in years. There are some small areas on the black roof where you can see yellow/green pollen or mold starting to form, this came off easily with a wet brush. Cosmetically speaking, what we know: The Headliner on the right side of the roof is stating to come off and is visible in the pictures. The Left Side Door Drivers mirror would need to be fixed or replaced. The tires need air, (we can do that) The interior of the roof shows the material starting to sag from the roof. Not the roof itself sagging, but just the material that is attached to the roof in the interior of the car. (See pictures) The Battery was obviously dead, it has been removed. In addition to these repairs: This car would require whatever kind of repairs would need to be done to a car that has been sitting idle for so many years. We are unsure of what these repairs would be to get the car up and running again, including the Engine. We have not had the car evaluated by a mechanic or professional to request this information. We encourage any potential buyers to utilize their mechanical or schedule an inspection of this vehicle prior to making a bid or if you are close enough geographically, please come take a look yourself. The Good: The Interior is in Great Shape. It's Grey Leather and I don't see many imperfections. The Dashboard looks good, no cracks, the interior doors look good, all buttons and switches in place. Backseat Leather in great condition. We didn't notice any significant dings or dents anywhere on the car. It is possible that with replacing the issues that come with a car sitting idle for so long that may be all that is required to get the car back up and running. However we cannot guarantee anything as it has not been evaluated by a professional. But it may be a chance to own a classic car without a ton of investment and in a worst case scenario. This car may be used for the parts, it's interior, and more. We have tried to find more definitive information specifically about the engine and were unsuccessful. The original battery was obviously dead after sitting idle for so many years and has been disposed. We are unclear what specific repairs would be needed to get the car up and running again. This car would be perfect for a mechanic or someone who has the knowledge on how to repair a car of this type to it's original condition. This car would also be great purchase for it's parts alone such as the interior, dashboard, windows, etc are all in great condition. (Please see all 24 photos posted)
The above reasons explain why we have decided to list this car as an auction with No Reserve and such a low starting bid. There are no guarantees with this car. We fully understand people would like more information prior to purchasing a vehicle. We have tried to be as upfront and honest about the condition of this car, but this is difficult since we ourselves do not know all the specific details of what works and does not work within the vehicle except to say 25 years ago, it was used daily without problems. This would be a good time to utilize the advise of a professional mechanic or appraiser who can come and inspect the vehicle for you.
The car would need to be towed from it's current location as it presently is not functioning. The Buyer is responsible for the cost of Towing this Vehicle from it's current location as well as shipping costs. The vehicle is located in central New Jersey approximately 45 minutes west of Manhattan, New York City.
