1978 Lincoln Mark V Up for Auction With NO RESERVE74K original miles. 460 V8. Rare color combination with burgundy and white paint and interior. Options include 460 V8. leather dual power bench seat. padded vinyl quarter roof. power moonroof with shade. "miles to empty" readout. Ziebart factory rustproofing (the small plastic "buttons" seen in the door jambs). cruise control. tilt steering wheel and remote trunk release. I have service records going back 35 years. the 74k on the odometer is original and documented. The Lincoln was purchased from a gentleman who has owned it since 1979. he bought it with 19k on the odometer as seen in the pix. All the service records since new are included. including big jobs (also seen in the pix) like a new transmission. Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold (water pump was replaced on the same job). and a performance Edelbrock double-roller timing gear set. The aftermarket timing gear set brings the 460's timing back to the non-retarded pre-pollution control setting. resulting in increased horsepower and better mpg. The odometer mileage is documented over the course of the years in the service records. the 74k on the odometer is original mileage. I apologize for the car being so dirty. I did not get a chance to wash her and the pix really don't do her justice. As seen in the gallery pix. I am also considering sale of my rare 1972 Mark IV. details below. Mechanical: The Lincoln has always been maintained on schedule and is registered and on the road. Upgrades done by the previous owner include Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor. nbsp;Edelbrock double-roller timing chain and gear set. new transmission. custom Flowmaster exhaust and a/c system retrofitted to modern freon. More recently. the car got new brakes all around. cruise control working. fixed the headlight doors (which would open after the engine was turned off. now they stay closed even if parked for weeks) and replaced the headlight brights foot switch. I've had a few Lincoln Mark V's and this one is by far the most fun; all the luxury of a classic Lincoln with musclecar power. I bought it from the late owner's son; he believes his dad upgraded some of the engine's internals as well (camshaft. heads. etc). this 460 V8 is a powerhouse. Not overly loud. just a low growl to let you know she means business. Everything works as it should; the power window motors including power vent windows are quick and easy and the power moonroof opens and closes with the push of a button. both power seats work perfectly in all directions. The moonroof does not leak at all. even in heavy rain or a car wash. The moonroof is huge. almost feels like a convertible when you've got it fully open. When you're on the highway with the windows up you can't hear any road noise. it's nice and quiet inside. The upgrades to the engine. intake. carburetor and exhaust improved the mpg as well as the horsepower. Cosmetics: The Lincoln got new two tone paint to match the interior and padded vinyl quarter roof about 15 years ago. she presents beautifully. The interior is very nice. the burgundy leather is original and other than showing some age cracking in the driver's seat is in excellent condition. The dash. door panels. carpet. headliner. visors and moonroof shade are close to perfect. The body is very straight. never hit or had any bodywork anywhere. the doors close easily (the last Mark V I had required a really hard slam or the doors would only partly latch) and the bumpers are shiny. no dents or peeling anywhere. Everything lines up perfectly. which is important on a car with such straight and angular body lines. The underside is close to spotless; the Ziebart rustproofing they did back then kept these cars pristine. I put the heavy-tread raised white letter tires on for an aggressive look; I have the original. more "classy" whitewalls I can replace them with if preferred. I just like the look. She is a total blast to drive! The power from the 460 V8 is a pleasure. the last Mark I had came with the 400 V8 and the difference between the 400 and the 460 is substantial. Always starts easily. cruises nicely on the highway and brakes evenly with the four wheel disc brakes. She starts on the first try even in cold weather. idles perfectly and the suspension is luxurious. No leaks from anywhere. garage floor always dry when I pull her out. As you can see in the pix I'm also considering selling my ultra rare. triple black 1972 Mark IV. early 72 model with full grille. Fully optioned including dual power seats. cruise control. power front and rear windows. working a/c. power steel moonroof. "Sure-Track" (early ABS) and twilight sentinel. Upgrades include dual Magnaflow exhaust. high output distributor. Demon carburetor and KYB shocks all around. I am including all the original parts as well (carb. distributor. air filter. etc). Price is $14k or best offer. Dayton 20" wire wheels available for additional charge. original aluminum Lincoln wheels with good tires included. If someone were to purchase both Lincolns I would make a package deal. I know I'll never find another like this Mark IV; if you do some research on the web on the production numbers of these cars you'll see there were only about 200 built with the full grill and the power moonroof. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Lincoln is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary. cost of shipping to paid by buyer. If you need it I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used many times in the past; they're professional. reliable and have great rates. Classic Lincoln which will only appreciate in value.
