You are bidding on a 1997 Ford Escort Wagon in boysenberry blue, ith a gray interior. This car was purchased new by my mother-in-law, nd has been in the family ever since. It's kind of a cliche to hear about the car only driven on Sundays by a little old lady (she's 82 now), ut in this case it's true! My father-in-law passed away some time ago, nd she kept his car, nd ceded the Escort to her son, ho used it to commute to the train station. He recently purchased a new car, o I took the Escort and prepared it for sale.
So, y wife and I gave it a complete cleaning, nd then I did the following:
Engine oil and filter change
Complete transmission flush with new filter (not just a drain and fill)
Replaced catalytic converter (brand new)
Replaced entire exhaust system and muffler (the entire system is new)
Replaced front sway bar end links
Radiator flush and refill with new coolant
Complete brake inspection (pads and shoes are like new - brakes are all set for a long time)
The car is in great shape, nd has been garage kept for almost all of its life, nd it shows. There is no rust in any of the wheel wells. A single accident comes up on the Carfax report, ut Adele (that's my mother-in-law) can't remember what it was. There is a very small dent in the left rear (hey, he was in her 80's, nd her vision isn't what it used to be!), o that is likely the cause. It's really a cream puff - just look at the pics.
The interior is almost perfect, ith no rips or holes in any of the seats. This car is from a non-smoking family, nd the ashtrays have never even seen a cigarette.
A common problem on these vehicles is a frayed wiring harness for the rear hatch, ut this one has no issues. Everything in the rear hatch works - wipers, asher pump, ll lights, ear defrost, tc.
In the attached pics, ou can see all the original documentation, ervice history log, wner's manual, uick guide, tc. I attached a pic of a sample page of the service log - Ed was very meticulous with the maintenance of the car (he was an architect, nd kept up with maintenance on all his possessions - very "old school").
Everything on the car works properly - there are no broken switches, ights, r accessories. The tires, oodyear Integritys, re at about 60%, o you won't have to worry about them for a while.
The bottom line is this is a very lightly used, xtremely well cared for vehicle with only 111,217 miles. It needs nothing, verything is up to date. Drive it home with confidence. This is just a great little car for New England winters, reat in the snow, nd with tons of interior space. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, nd I will provide an answer quickly. A $200.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of auction close. Also, lease don't bid if you don't intend to take the car. The family has been through enough after Ed's passing, nd we don't need any more stress. We'd just like to find a good home for the car.
Good luck, nd happy bidding.
