Maserati and Chrysler joined forces in 1989 and built 7. 00 of these cars (from 1989-1991) and out of those 7. 00 cars built. only 501 were made with the 16v DOHC Maserati engine. The rest got either the Chrysler or Mitsubishi engine which was commonly found in millions of cars Chrysler produced during that time period. This one has the Maserati engine. For those who do not know. the Maserati engine had the highest HP of the three engines offered. At 200hp and 220lb/ft of torque the Maserati engine was one of the most powerful 4 cylinder engines in the world at that time (1989). And that was at stock boost. With a simple computer change. the HP jumps to 245hp and over 270lb/ft of torque. This particular TC comes with both the original factory computer and the Stage II engine controller. You can run whichever one you want. With the stock computer the car makes 200hp and with the stage II controller it makes 245hp. It has been garage kept and meticulously cared for and maintained since new and both the interior and exterior reflect this. The car's undercarriage is as clean underneath as it is inside the cockpit. Anyone on planet earth with a 16v powered Maserati TC either has their TC shipped to me for maintenance and/or repairs or calls/emails me for technical support on these cars. I have been specializing in the 16v powered TC's since their debut in 1989 and I am an ex-Chrysler (and ASE Certified) Technician. Maintenance. repairs. and performance upgrades performed by me at RDI Performance on 1/26/13. In most cases the gaskets. seals. and hoses were not leaking. I simply changed them due to the fact they were over 20 years old and I am a perfectionist. If you are looking at this auction chances are you know exactly how rare these cars are. (especially the TCs with the real Maserati engine). and you know exactly which parts are usually in terrible condition (e. g. the port hole windows. gas release lever. instrument hood cluster cover. leather interior. etc. etc. etc. and you'll notice how those parts on this car are mint. Drive it to the Chrysler's at Carlisle event and win with this car. Other than my triple black 90 (16v) with 000800 miles this is the nicest. most mint 16v TC I've ever seen and I've worked on more 16v TC's than anyone I've ever heard of on the planet. For those who read the TC Club of America newsletter. I write a column each month usually discussing the proper maintenance of these wonderful cars. Any questions. feel free to ask. A/C blows cold. every button and switch works (including the convertible top pull down). the factory CD player. you name it. it works as new. The convertible top looks brand new. The porthole windows in the hard top look new (glass is crystal clear with tiny bubbles near perimeter). the factory windshield (and all the factory Maserati glass) looks new. and even though the floor mats look new. I'm including an extra set of brand spanking new (in the sealed factory package) floor mats. just in case you are as anal as I am. The clear Florida title is in my name and shows 12. 85 actual miles. For those who collect cars you know how important that is.
