· I just installed a brand new Deka battery, hich is the most popular and preferred battery replacement for NA Miata’s.
· This car is totally virgin, .e. it hasn’t been “modded” in any way. Not to say I’m totally against it because really I think they beg for it, ut this one just hasn’t which is a good thing when you’re buying these used. A heavily modified Miata can be a challenge, nd usually isn’t exactly to your taste.
· I purchased an aftermarket radio / climate control surround that is sized for a double-din radio, o when the time comes you can go to any radio shop and replace this radio with a cool double din unit. This was a very expensive part ordered from Japan, s the factory slot will fit a single din with a crappy looking adapter and that’s about it. The factory radio slot on these is a weird size.
· As you can see from the photos, he driver’s seat looks like crap. I have brand new, actory seat covers (I can install them for you for an extra charge) which I haven’t gotten around to putting on. They have the perforations for the speakers which are in the head rests as well which is great.
· New factory style floor mats
· This summer I also had new shocks / struts installed all around, nd new coil springs in back. Tires are about 85%-90% tread. Also, n alignment was done when the struts were replaced.
· The top is brand new, ut on this summer. It has a glass rear window. This model did not have a rear defroster.
· I installed brand new headlights and also fixed the “shaky headlight” problem these cars have (If you’re familiar with these you know what I’m talking about, f not, ou’re welcome!).
· I just put new plugs and wires, ust as a matter of course, think the ones I replaced were originals. It was running fine but it’s something I do.
· The clutch is in great shape, don’t see any reason for replacement. No slipping and the friction is perfect. It’s very easy to shift, f you’re a beginner these cars are pretty forgiving.
· New wiper blades (I’m mentioning this as a joke but yes they are new)
The Not Good Stuff As with many old cars, here are some flaws and I want to mention them so you know exactly what you’re getting into.· She drips a little oil on occasion and it’s coming from the rear main seal. A few drops here and there but never enough for the oil level to drop between oil changes. I think that if the clutch had to be done in the next few years I might do the oil seal as well.
· The radio sort of works, ut it’s kind of finicky. I would trash it but also I just listen to my headphones if I’m listening to anything but I can use XM etc from my phone. The speakers are blown, hey’re original and sun baked.
· The A/C of course blows warm, ut everything kicks on when you push the button.. it will definitely need a re-charge, ut also the leak should be fixed. I hate when people say “A/C works just needs a re-charge!” because yes, hat’s partially true, ut it needs re-charging because there’s a leak somewhere. It looks like the previous owner put R134 fittings on it but I haven’t messed with it so that’s something you can toy with. Maybe it was already R134 but I think these were R12 back in ’91.
· There is some rust starting in the wheel wells, ut can be handled easily, t’s minimal. Also the clear coat under the driver’s door started to peel. There is no other rust on the car other than standard surface rust on the underside (suspension parts, tc..) of a 24 year old car.
· The shift knob spins around.. it’s weird, ever bothered to replace it but a new knob is cheap.
