Description

This striking 1992 Mazda Miata has never been wrecked, as been garaged nearly all of its life, nd is in outstanding condition. The option C only came in Brilliant Black, .6L 16 Valve, 16 HP, 00 ft lbs torque, speed, ith viscous limited slip rear differential. Option C also includes a Nardi wood shift knob and wood brake handle, tainless steel sill plate, nd tan leather interior with leather wrapped steering wheel. The car has ABS brakes, ower steering, ower brakes, ruise control, nd ice cold air conditioning. Factory hardtop, actory bra and tonneau cover are included.

The previous owner was an aircraft mechanic and very meticulous about maintenance. When I bought the car from him he stated that he knew every bit of its prior history (two prior owners). At 60,000 miles he replaced the timing belt, ater pump, rive belts, ll hoses, park plugs, istributor cap and plug wires, ll with factory OEM parts. In 2009 he installed adjustable KYB AGX struts on front and rear and replaced the very weak horn with a air horn kit made for the Miata; he installed Flyin' Miata's super bright Bosch H4 headlamp conversion with nearly twice the light output of factory. He also replaced the four built in speakers in the headrests as well as the door speakers, he factory-original stereo sounds great.

In 2011 the engine developed a small oil leak. The aircraft mechanic couldn't tolerate a leaking engine! Initially he thought it was the distributor seal because this is common, ut after replacing that, he small leak at the rear of the engine continued. He then concluded that it was the rear main seal. Since he had to pull the transmission to address that anyway, e replaced the clutch with Flyin' Miata's upgrade kit. This includes a new 1.8 sized lighter performance flywheel, heir FM level 1 clutch plate and disk, ew throw out bearing, ilot bearing, nd clutch bypass switch. He also installed a new clutch hydraulic slave cylinder. And of course the rear main oil seal, ront transmission seal, nd shifter boot. Confoundingly, his still did not stop the small oil leak! Finally he determined that the head gasket was leaking at the rear of the engine. He replaced the head gasket, am seals, nd all related gaskets. This sealed the engine tight as new. He used only synthetic oil in it and stated that he had never seen the oil even get dirty… this is a very clean burning engine. In 2008 at 45,000 Mazda replaced the airbag, irbag module computer, nd the combination switch assembly ($1100), ecause the airbag light came on.

This car gets 30 mpg when driven economically and about 25 when driven like it was intended. It's a blast to drive, ith immaculate handling thanks to its light weight and balance (and upgraded struts). The interior is in very good shape but the driver's seat leather does have some small tears as seen in the photos. The soft top is original and in good condition with a single very small cut.

While I've owned the car all oil changes have been made as scheduled, nd the front brake pads were replaced at 69,000 miles.

I’ve seen no rust-through of any body panel anywhere on the car.

I installed Hard Dog's Deuce roll bar ($450). Manufacturer's description: “The Deuce, ard Dog's double hoop roll bar, as styling reminiscent of the AC Cobra and other vintage marques from the golden era of sports car racing. Secured with rearward bracing, he Deuce mounts to the unibody framework inside the rear wheel wells using our crash tested frontal and backup plate design. The mounting system combined with the highest quality heavy wall tubing and single bend hoops with multiple stress-critical attachments creates an unparalleled structural support for this type of roll bar.”

I also installed high strength, ightweight Ultra Racing wheels ($500) and 195/50 Toyo Extensa tires. The rears have several thousand miles left in them, nd the front have more.

The previous owner paid $7300 for the car because it was rare and he knew its history, nd invested over $2000 making it perfect (not counting what had to be a few thousand dollars worth of his own meticulous aircraft-mechanic labor time).

As you can see, o expense has been spared in making this rare Miata better than new while preserving stock appearance.

Thanks for your consideration, assure you that you will not be disappointed with this exceptional Miata.
