1972 Mercedes 220 D, 4dr, low mileage, manual transmission

Offered is a pedestrian sedan with relatively low. regular-use mileage ~ 4000 mi/yr. Starts every time. runs very nicely. even at interstate speeds and higher. Through the 1st and 2nd gears. it is. like all non-turbocharged diesels. a little stodgy. i. e. . from a stoplight. you won't beat your local teen in the rusty Camaro or the gangbanger in an Escalade. but they'll reach the salvage yard decades before you. The subject car is very straight. no discernible rust areas. good gaps. ziebarted. precise door closure. with the durable MB-Tex interior. Repainted the original pearl white to an average standard. O. k. . not great. but better than Home Depot Valspar. Aftermarket radio works well. JC Whitney CB aerial. Several dash cracks. concealed with an attractive. custom-fit. monogrammed pad. This is not a Pakastani taxicab. a beater with half a million miles of smog traffic. but a known ownership (4) history sedan. The owners have been non-smokers; the car. however. does smoke when started cold. Normal for an aging diesel. and not excessive enough to render embarassment to the driver. There are plenty of minor flaws. none of which affect drivability. performance. or enjoyment. Not a garage queen or fit for show. however. a wonderful (consider the season) Mother's Day gift. Also. a perfect ride for any youngster learning to drive stick shift. safe. durable. good mpg. and they'll never get a speeding ticket. Can be driven anywhere. fly in. drive home.
