Description

1999 Mercedes S500 Grand EditionThe Grand Edition S500 marks the last 600 of the W140 body style built. It was different from the standard S500 in the following ways:-only 600 were built and 150-175 made it to the U. S. -It has a unique paint color (Obsidian Black Metallic -original)-lighted Mercedes-Benz door sills-S600 interior in a color they call parchment-18" AMG monoblock wheels-wooden steering wheel-black maple woodgrain not available on any other MercedesThis was the final version of the last year of this model so many upgrades and improvements had been made since the beginning of this body style in 1992. Mercedes had spent over $1 billion to develop this model and is widely considered one of the best. if not THE best. vehicle that Mercedes has ever built. This is a rare model that is difficult to find. Occasionally. they come up for sale on ebay. usually from a collection. So enough of the history lesson. Here's some information about my particular vehicle:-it has 173. xx miles (more on this in a bit)-I've owned it since June 2012 and spent about 1. 5 years looking for the perfect one (I was not looking for a Grand Edition. I just got lucky). The car had 142. 00 on it when I purchased it. -I have all maintenance records from the previous owner. all of the records from my ownership and a few from the original owner. The previous owner had the car for 6 years and me now for going on 3 years. I will also provide the new owner with a spreadsheet showing work that's been done and at which mileage intervals. I have included photographs of the stack of maintenance and repair receipts as well as 3 shots of the chronological Excel spreadsheet that I keep on all my cars showing all maintenance that I have records for. -The only reason I am selling is that I've recently obtained a company vehicle and I've chosen to keep my 450SL rather than this. (i. e. 3 drivers in family. 4 cars are plenty as stated by my better half)-I would not hesitate to drive this car to California right now. -The only project that I've not completed is to replace the control arm bushings. This is only about $60 for the parts but about 5-6 hours labor for the DIY'er. -This is not a trashed-out S500 from this era which is very commonly found on Craigslist. It has been very well cared for and has made numerous 400+ mile trips since my ownership. -This is the long wheelbase version and I frequently ride in the back seat which is incredibly comfortable. I'm 6'8" and can cross my legs in the back without any trouble. -Engine is the venerable 5. 0 litre V-8 with 315 hp. The car is both quick and fast. -Although this car is extremely clean. it is not a show car. It has served as my daily driver since I've owned it. -There is a crack in the front air dam in the plastic which is shown in the photos. I've attached a plate behind the dam holding the two split pieces together which is not visible from the front of the car. -The left headlight wiper operates slower than the right and occasionally ends up in a different position when done operating. Another common issue with this model (wiper motor abailable for $35-$45 on ebay brand new OEM)-This car has been garaged about 75% of the time since I've owned it. The previous owner garaged it 100% of the time. -Has been waxed 2x per year using only Zaino products. -Clean title. Check the attached history report. It's one of the cleanest I've seen. -I have two remote keys for the vehicle along with the original manuals in leatherette Grand Edition zippered folio. -The mileage should not be of concern. It averages out over the car's life to less than 11. 00 miles per year. On the contrary. a Mercedes with substantially lower miles should be more of a concern. These cars are built to be driven. This is a very nice. safe and classy automobile. Classy but not flashy. If you're looking for one of these. you probably already know this. The obligatory fine print:-buyer is responsible for securing and paying for shipping of the vehicle. I am located in a suburb of Atlanta Georgia. zip code 30152. -a $500 deposit via paypal is due within 48 hours of commitment to purchase-remaining balance due within 7 days of end of listing. -I have described the vehicle as best as I can through the verbiage above and attached photographs and will not be held responsible for misrepresentation at later date so please ask questions prior to placing bids/offers. -payment for vehicle to be in form of Cashiers check.
