For sale is a 1994 Mercedes E420 with 89K miles.
It has a clean title. We bought it 7 years ago from a Mercedes enthusiast when it had 70k miles. We've garaged it and the original paint is still very good.
Interior is in good condition. No rips or significant wear to the leather seats. Power features and heated seats work. All windows roll up and down.
I've tried to photograph the imperfections to the exterior. Besides that it does have the usual rock chips on the front bumper and grill area.
Headlight lenses are in very good shape, s are the rear lights.
Passenger side mirror glass is broken. Housing and power function are good. I'm told the glass can be swapped out for a replacement glass costing as cheap as $15 for aftermarket.
Brakes are good.
Interior is in good condition. Seats are in good shape. No rips. The factory stereo has been replaced with an Alpine unit. Dash doesn't have any cracks.
The car ran beautifully for the first year of our ownership but we eventually had less time to drive it and it became our spare car and was mostly parked. Unfortunately, e've learned that these Mercedes V8's don't like being parked. After not being driven for 5-6 months, t starts up right away but idles low at 500rpm and runs rough. It also had trouble passing smog and since we weren't driving it we didn't want to spend the money to fix it just to let it park again.
We had a local indie Mercedes mechanic do a diagnosis on the car last month. He concluded that the engine was healthy but the ignition system needed a tune-up and quoted us ~$1000 for parts and labor. At the moment it still runs and drives but I wouldn't recommend trying to drive it long distance. Shipping would be the best option.
The car would also benefit greatly from an alignment job on the front suspension. It doesn't make any noises while driving but we noticed uneven wear on the front tires.
Engine wiring harness replaced. Had new spark plugs and wires installed not long before we parked the car.
We've decided to sell this car instead of spending the money to get it back to 100%. Our family has grown and we need to make room for a larger vehicle. Priorities have changed so this has to go. If you know how to work on these cars, his is a greatopportunityto get a low mileage example.
