1991 Mercedes 350 SDL "Long" Black on black. Low miles.
Only 246,000 which is low for a 25 year old diesel. The car runs and drives
like new. Does not burn oil like most rod benders. This car runs so well
that it is possible that Benz did a motor replacement under warranty back
in the day. As most of you know, he 3.5 rod bender would start burning
oil at 90,000 miles. This one burns maybe a quart every 3500 miles if that.
The car has a rebuilt OEM sterero which was done by a licensed Becker dealer.
The AC was converted to R 134 A. New battery and starter. New glow plugs.
New custom made exhaust, ew driveshaft bearings (yes there are 2 of them)
New strut rod caster bushings, ew brakes, ew heater control valve.
Major service done. Trans serviced. All new filters. Car has a bulb primer
installed. Never run on crap or veggie oil (ruins injection pumps)
This motor has the desirable angle injector head and injection pump. Car starts right up
even in the dead cold. I just changed the idler pulley and serpentine belt.
The cruise, C, tereo, unroof ( a miracle, oor locks, nd windows all work.
I have a clean NJ title ready to go. No stories about "Well I think it's in my moms house
somewhere", tc......
I'm not going to write some long doctoral dissertation about who owned the car
and how it was stored and bla bla bla. Its not a 1963 Ferrari or a Porsche 917.
It's a dime a dozen old Mercedes diesel that was driven and not garaged. If it was
garaged the clear coat would not be peeling. The car is in great shape for its age.
I have too many cars and the Town car I bought has a softer better ride.
It also has a front seat that feels like my living room sofa instead of a 2x4.
Remember, am throwing in my comfy cushion as an added sales incentive.
I use the car to drive between Delaware and NJ. I have a lot of money and sweat in this
car. I am selling because I bought a Lincoln Town Car. (more comfortable on long trips
runs on regular and gets the same mileage).
The drivers seat (Mercedes never could make a decent seat until 1992) is a little hard.
The leather is in great shape, ut it feels like you are sitting on a rock. The lucky high
bidder will receive a free complimentary comfy cushion. You will need it after a 10 minute
ride. Sitting on a 2x4 is more comfortable than sitting on a Mercedes seat.
The car needs a nice $700 MAACO paint job. There are some dings as you can see in the pics.
The car has a new hoodliner (pad).
It is not too loud for a diesel. Car has a block heater. Did not need it. With the new glow plugs
and battery she started right up. I run Delvac and Delo 15 40 oil.
The ASD (fake posi traction) light is on. I'm not fixing it. I don't care as I don't drive
it in the snow. I think it may be the controller which is under the RR of the car.
The miracle and saving grace of this car is that there is no rust.
Considering this car spent most of its life in NJ I consider that a miracle.
My feedback speaks for itself. I am selling a great running classic diesel at an opening bid
of $9.99. Yes, hat is right, .99. No gutless spineless reserve. High bidder gets it. I have too
many cars. Girlfriend is getting aggravated with me and my junk. Mostly with me though. LOL
I think I am into this car for a good solid $4,500. I drove it for 4 years. I did all the hard stuff.
Time for someone else to enjoy it and restore it.
The headliner, arpet and leather are in great shape. Dash has no cracks,. I have
seen many that look like a family of raccoons lived on the inside. Once you repair the
dings and get her painted she will be a beautiful car again. I would repaint the rims also.
Car has spare tire and jack. I replaced the garbage POS US DOT headlamps with the correct
Bosch German Euro's. These are not the cheap Chinese made garbage ones. These are a lot of money
if you can still find them.
Like I said, 9.99 is the opening bid. I will gladly sell to the lower 48 states. If you are from
far away like California or Oregon you must arrange for your own common carrier.
You will send me a certified cashiers check. I will deposit the check into my account.
Once it clears, will send you the title, hen you can arrange for a common carrier to haul it back
to wherever.
My feedback speaks for itself. I am an honest seller. The car needs paint, nd the power antenna is kaput.
I will give you a spare one with the car as well as the comfy cushion you will so desperately need for your butt. The rear windows
are all tinted. I also changed the ignition lock cylinder last year and you will get 2 keys (Another $110)
If you have any questions please e mail me. The car gets about 24 mpg hwy and 17 city. I am not going to sugar coat it. She is a heavy sled. I'm not going to lie about the mileage like some sellers who claim 30 mpg + and bla bla bla. The only way this beast is getting 30 mpg is downhill
with a tail wind.
Diesel went down in price. Now is a good time to own one again before diesel oil hits 4.25 again.
Thanks for looking at my auction. Good luck with the bidding. PROTEEGOLF
