OVERVIEW of the S500: The 1995 S500 is a different car than anything Mercedes has created before or since. It is "tank-like", eaning it is obviously massive when you drive it, nd purposeful. It is not a fluffy land-yacht, nd the handling automatically varies from freeway soft to backroad taut with an actively controlled suspension. The v-8 in the S500 is really enjoyable, mooth, owerful, ood low end torque, igh revving and powerful, et relatively lightly loaded and long lasting. And it is spacious inside!
Specific information of the car being sold:
THE GOOD
1. This car runs great. It is an amazing ride. It has a powerful 5.0L V8, ombined with amazing suspension that rides extremely comfortable.
2. The exterior of the car is in excellent condition, ith a few exceptions (see "the ugly").
3. The interior of the car is in excellent condition, ncluding all leather seats. This car has been described as one of the last "diplomatic" feeling cars Mercedes has made. Riding in the back seat makes one feel quite important.
4. Air conditioning system works great.
5. Power everything: windows, oor locks, ll 4 seats move in all directions, irrors, teering, elescoping steering wheel.
6. Safety features include Slip control and all 4 wheel anti-lock braking system. I moved here from Wyoming and tried to skid the car out in black ice and could not do it (even though it is a RWD). Not even my Jeep in 4WD could do that.
7. Custom premium chrome wheels that really make the car stand out.
8. The windows are completely blacked out...you know, or privacy.
9. Relatively low miles for such an old car. These cars are known to easily last to 250,000 miles and beyond.
10. Almost new (5,000 miles) premium tires are on the car.
THE BAD
I'm am all about full disclosure. There are a few functional issues with the car:
1. The radio doesn't work. But the sound system does and it is a Bose sound system that sounds absolutely amazing.
2. The sunroof won't open. I think it just needs to be manually cranked open and greased.
3. When you step on the brake, he airbag light comes on. My mechanic said it was probably a wire that is degraded. I would recommend to the new owner to investigate this issue.
THE UGLY
There are a few cosmetic areas of concern, hat if fixed would make this car look brand new. I include pictures of these items.
1. The front bumper is damaged. I ran into a parking curb that was abnormally tall...oops. There is no structural damage other than the bumper.
2. The front and rear window have cracks in them.
In short, his is truly a great car. It needs a little TLC to get it mint, ut it runs great and is a truly enjoyable car to drive. I am actually quite sad to see it go. Feel free to call or text me with any questions.Jason (904) 571-1970
