Exceptional example of a restored W126 big body car. Original 6 cyl diesel engine and trans were swopped out with the notorious 5 cyl om 617 that had only 150K miles from a 1985 300sd. Engine compression at time of swop was 315- 325 on all cyl . The transmission from the donor car had been recently rebuilt by Transmissions by Ron of Atlanta Ga. New radiator and exhaust was installed. The car was then stripped of all exterior trim and glass and painted in PPG base and 4 coats of clear in Smoked silver metallic its original color. Door rubbers where replaced as well as lower door glass rubber and new rear glass weatherstrip. Chrome was removed from bumpers prior to being painted. The 1987 brown leather interior was replaced with 1990 cream beige leather. front and rear seats. cream beige door panels and carpet installed all from a 1990 560sel. Car looks and run like new. The wood on console and dash was beautifully restored. A new pioneer cd player was installed with coaxial factory speakers from a 1990 560 sel front and rear. It also has new speakers in the doors as per factory for the 1990 interior. Automatic power antenna works as it did in 1987. Front suspension was gone over to replaced any parts containing rubber. bushing . control arms ball joints etc. New heater control module was installed as well as a new cruise control amplifier. I replaced the AC compressor along with the expantion valve and dryer and charged the system with Freeze 12 a synthetic r12 avalable for me at NAPA ( you can switch to r134 after evacuating the system). I'll throw in the couple of cans of freeze12 to the winning bidder. Sunroof was pulled complete apart cleaned. lubricated with MB sunroof lube and new lifting arms installed. All lights gauges locks and associated systems work as they should. Power seat with memory all work. New hood pad was installed. All rubber brake line replaced. Car has a Jan 2016 Va state inspection sticker. Car has been garaged kept since restoration. This car has been my personal vehicle for about 7yrs and I' ve driven it about 2000mi per year on trips to the mountains or other vacation/ weekend get aways. It is basicly a 16000 mile car. Car comes with locking console with key. Car get 25/30 mpg city/ highway. Michelin tires with 70% tread left . New timing chain and tensionor. flex disc. brake disc. pads at restoration.
